Default Hypothetical: choose 5 TV shows on constant loop for your solitary confinement

Remember Desert Island Books? Like if you were stranded on a desert island, what 5 books would you want to have with you in such a scenario?

And then how that somehow became Desert Island DVDs ... which made no sense at all except to point out how few books people seemed to read these days?

Well, how about this thought exercise:

Let's say you are somehow being sent to prison, but with these conditions:

    - It's for 5 years (minimum) with zero chance of parole or early release.

    - It's solitary confinement in a cell that has a working toilet and sink, a bunk with mattress, pillow and blanket, a slot for food. And perched on a high corner, a single TV that you cannot reach, there's a button close by to turn on and off and that's it.

    - Oh, and in another corner where you can't reach, a camera always watching you. Escape is impossible.

    - This prison for some reason has access to every tv show ever made, in their entirety. And you can choose any 5 tv shows to watch, in their entirety on a repeating loop, for the duration of your stay.

    - Once you choose those 5 shows and begin your sentence, you cannot make any changes. For the next 5 (or more) years, you are stuck watching those same 5 shows over and over again, from the pilots to the last episodes. No commercials. No news, sports or weather. No documentaries, must be scripted programming.

Which 5 shows (and they must be tv shows: no movies, no shorts, no webisodes that aren't ready-made into 30 min or 60 min episodes) would you pick to be your only companions for your 5-year stay?

I'm not sure of my 5 yet , although I'm gonna say

STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION would probably make my cut. I'll figure out the other 4 later.

    How about your choices?

Stargate: SG1 (It lasted long enough that it has a buttload of episodes and I can sit down and watch it when it's on with no risk of boredom.)

Dr. Who (Assuming we stretch this all the way back to the first series aired, there would be so many episodes that 5 years might not be enough.)

    MASH

    South Park

Babylon 5 is a definite starting point.

Night Court, because I need to laugh every now and again.

Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, cause I love that anime.

I would start with Dr.Who, all 50 years and the Simpsons all 25 years.

    Buffy the Vampire Slayer
    The Sopranos
    South Park
Game of Thrones (when it completes)
Star Trek TOS (unless you let me get everything, then I'll take that)

I would choose shows with over 25 plus years worth of episodes otherwise why torture myself even more when I can read a book. I'd even go for cancelled soap operas over tv shows that i love.

Hmm, let me add my two cents worth:

Doctor Who (from Hartnell to Capaldi)

    Batman: The Animated Series

    Sailor Moon (the original series)

    Star Trek (the original series)

    The Simpsons

Not my top 5, but those with enough episodes to mix it up:

    The Simpsons
    Batman: the Animated Series
    Seinfeld
    Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Cheers. Yeah, Cheers. Still holds up.

Sailor Moon, I just got into it and it would save me from buying the DVDs.
X-Files, I've been meaning to watch this at some point.
    Gargoyles, because awesome show.
    Batman the Animated Series, classic.
Evil Dead, because we know that's going to be groovy and I wouldn't want to miss it because of hypothetical jail.

That is a Very Interesting and Good Question daBronzeBomma, I honestly had to really think about it.

Took sometime, but my 5 would be and in order of most Important:

1.) Sailor Moon (Original 1990's Series, from Season 1 to Stars) - My Favorite Anime of All Times and Maybe my Favorite TV Show of all times, this is a Must! It be the New Viz Media Dubbed Version.

2.) Mystery Science Theater 3000 - IMO the Greatest Comedy Show Ever Created by Mankind! This is Beyond a must for just pure funny and light-hearten enjoyment!

3.) Dragon Ball/Z/Super - My 2nd Favorite Anime of All times, this would go from the original Dragon Ball, threw Z and into Super! No GT. It be the most recent Dubbed version as well, the whole series, not the Kai shorten version.

4.) One Piece - This Anime Only would take-up a majority of my watching time, LOL! Very Good Anime, seen allot of episode, still need to see FAR More! Recent Dubbed Version as well.

5.) Star Trek (Orignal/TNG/DS9/Voyager/Enterprise) - One of the Greatest Sci-Fi Series ever made, have seen allot, have allot more to see and honstly I consider the whole of the 5 series as 1 whole series!
