Why didn't Marvel push Monica Rambeau as Captain Marvel

I don't suppose anyone else would be supportive of letting Monica's sense of humor, as portrayed in the classic NEXT WAVE! series, suggest to her and then have her foist upon the waiting world the sobriquet:
CAPTAIN
MARVELOUS! With the exclam. Naturally.
"Spectrum" just doesn't ring, to me. Not like
CAPTAIN MARVELOUS! of NEXT WAVE, also the Avengers and So On.
ah well.
Where IS that much deserved and long-awaited solo series!?

The Monica from Nextwave! would puke if she heard that name, and would then go on to violently irradiate anybody who suggested she use it.

Yeah, since to me combining white and black isn't as typically generic as the colour combination red, gold and blue.

Yeah, Marvel missed the bus twice here. One was to get their own female superhero movie out before Wonder Woman, and failing that, they could had the opportunity to have their first female led movie star a black heroine but nopes.

The amount of buttressing being provided to Carol's movie (Nick Fury, Coulson, Guardians of the Galaxy villains, Kree and Skrull war, major tease for her film at the end of a certain other film) makes the suggestion that Monica would have somehow fared worse laughable.

Too bad 616 Monica Rambeau never got a chance to own an Infinity Gem like in the other Monicas from alternate Earths. And the Space Gem no less. It would be interesting to see what she'd do with it, since space is one of her biggest limitations.

I think the best place to debut live-action Monica Rambeau is in a Netflix Blade series. I could see them setting a lot of Blade's activity in Louisiana (given the popularity of southern vampires).

I could see that as well since Captain Marvel has experience dealing with vampires like Dracula in the comics, so the debut of the live-action Captain Marvel battling vampires reads as pretty exciting to me.
