Yikes. Zachary Levi's throwing around some really ill thought out statements on his twitter.
I was looking forward to it but so much for the Shazam film. Not going to bother with it any time soon.
He should ignore them, and needs to going forward.
Thing is he is apparently a big fan himself, so yeh, he held up a mirror and replied defensively.
As far as how the movie costume looks, as a fan, I think they nailed it, I don't get the complaints.
I wouldn't have minded the classic asymmetric cut and button on the chest, but that was dropped by C. C. Beck himself. They didn't shy away from the classic bright colors, the red they chose really pops, and there is enough gold/yellow elements it completely invokes the whimsical yet powerful original.
There is nothing grim or dark about this costume.
The end of the sleeves/gauntlets, which I've seen interpreted as shiny fabric cuffs, that never read right to me, I always saw them as gauntlets, and they nailed that too. Looks powerful.
I think the rope cape-tie and belt-sash would have looked flimsy on a modern costume, so I appreciate how they are reworked, still referenced and solidified into the design.
Again I think Beck had already tightened up the belt, making it look more solid and not a sash. The rope would eventually read more as the trim on the top of the collar, which hear becomes the top of the emblem connected to the clasps.
All the elements are there.
The "new" hood, hangs back enough, that it can also read as the more classic cape with raised collar, he can wear it ether way. Also they did keep it traditionally short and more playful cape, which is probably the first thing some would have abandoned.
And I can easily imagine the added effects, lighting crackle and energy emanating from the framed chest emblem, which would otherwise be a static logo, they can conveys more of a constant internal magic charged energy emanating from it. It works for me.

The old Cap Marv/Shazam TV show from the 1979's starting Michael Grey.
LOL Although I really meant who had gotten the reference before (as in thought the same thing) , from the above "family" image in the Greek room alone.
When it was posted and circulated by Grace Fulton #Shazamily, etc.
Not after I posted it with the gif and quote from 1979 TV show LOL

First "official" image of Captain Marvel/SHAZAM!
They really are playing him cheesy.
Hopefully in a good way.

Anyone watch “Captain Bamboozle” on “Justice League Action”?
Pull List: Currently Empty
Yeah! Really fun seeing them use Uncle Dudley in a major role (especially since he wasn't used as part of the New 52 Shazam story) .
Fun fact: Uncle Dudley was voiced by John Astin, Sean Astin's adoptive father.
(I also just assumed the episode was set in Fawcett City just because it felt like it should have).
