Man, we're getting Godzilla vs. Kong and the Godzilla anime series this year - and Shin Ultraman! Then there's comic books and hone video releases and merch... as someone who's liked this stuff my entire life and had to search for it as a kid (I had to mail money orders for imported toys and bootleg tapes!) I'm still stunned by these developments!

The plate was probably torn off in their first round. The handle is probably bone taken from those flying Kaiju Kong was shown fighting in the trailer.

Perhaps, if Kong has the opportunity to go back to Skull Island or something since it doesn't look like he has it when he is being taken on the boat.
Personally I think it would also show more of Kong's ingenuity to have put together the weapon in response to Godzilla's breath as opposed to just inheriting an answer that an ancestor made.
