Shin Godzilla now has a page on Fandango with an opening date (Oct. 11) and a poster that lists a one week run of the Oct. 11 - 18!

    http://www.fandango.com/godzillaresu.../movieoverview

I don't think any Japanese Godzilla movie has had an official release in the US this soon after its domestic release! Mothra vs. Godzilla got to America in a little less than five months. The average time it's taken over the history of the franchise is, I think, a year.

Oh, and Shin Godzilla has now become the most successful live action film in Japan this year!

I don't think the major studios care about releasing a Japanese Godzilla in theatres here.

Oh yeah, there's a Godzilla anime set for next year. Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita are directing, Gen Urobuchi is writing.

It's official: Funimation will release Shin Godzilla for a limited theatrical run (more than 440 U.S. and Canadian theaters) between Oct. 11 - 18

Tickets officially go on sale this Friday and we'll know all the theaters, but some have already jumped the gun and have listed the film on Fandango, so check it out!

Since I already know the chances of it being in a theater close to me is slim to none, any idea when a blu-ray or DVD might be available in the US?

^A while off. Japan and the US are in the same Blu-Ray region, and home video is much much much more expensive in Japan, so they'll want their version to be out for a while before Japanese fans have the chance to import the much cheaper North American release.

Aw poopsticks. So much for the idea I might get it for Christmas. Man I wish I lived closer to a big city (I doubt the theater at the Indian casino will be one of the select ones to have this).

First time I saw Godzilla was when I saw this in our local TSS store circa 1970:

First movie? King Kong vs Godzilla (about 1972). Favorite? The original Toho film (though the Raymond Burr version is pretty good, too).
    A bat! That's it! It's an omen.. I'll shall become a bat!

^First Godzilla film I saw? King Kong vs. Godzilla around age 4 (my parents had already introduced me to Kong via a VHS recording of '33), followed by Godzilla vs. Megalon and then King of the Monsters. My first Godzilla toy was the 6inch figure put out by plastic dinosaur stalwarts Imperial, originally released in '85. They did a Kong, too, which I also had... still have both of 'em, in fact: they're on a shelf about ten feet from me right now!

    Shin Godzilla is tomorrow, folks!
