Swan is the definitive version. Garcia-Lopez is the most well known. But Dan Jurgens is my favorite.
Hope is not lost today. It is found.

Jerry Ordway is my favorite Superman artist, bar none. But for classic Superman it would have to be Curt Swan.

I grew up with Jurgens, but I can no longer find it in myself to give it to anyone but Swan and his legion of super inkers. Unbelievable combo of quantity and quality.

Definitely Jose Garcia-Lopez. As a kid I remember always seeing his version of Supes on DC promotions.

I would also have to say Frank Quitely just because All Star is my favorite comic of all time.

Funny that no one even thinks of Wayne Boring anymore. When I was a kid, Swan was always my favourite--and his version came to be accepted as the definitive one--but Wayne Boring's Superman had been the standard. His rendering of Superman was the image that one would find in the ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA. Perhaps due to the fact that Boring was the artist on the comic strip, which was read by more people (and grown up people) than the comic books. When other artists drew Superman--including Curt Swan--they used Wayne's version as their model.

I'll take Shuster, Fleischer, Swan, Adams, Jurgens, Timm and Ross and add Garcia-Lopez, Toth, Kirby, Ordway, Byrne, Grummet, Immonen, McKone, early Abell, Jim Aparo, Bryan Hitch, Gammil and a few more I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Well, there's big difference between 'favorite' and 'definitive'. I couldn't really tell you my favorite. But definitive? That's easy, these guys:

    And above all:

    Buh-bye
