Default Has a Marvel superhero ever smoked weed before?

Has a Marvel super hero ever smoked pot? Marijuana is becoming legal in more and more states, including my own. Marvel claims they want to be more diverse. Well stoners are a large subculture that Marvel seems to pretend doesn;t exist, and I have a feeling more and more of their fans are people who fall into this niche, myself included. I think it is time for a superhero to toke up once in a while, even if it is one of the more anti-hero characters, like Rocket Racoon. Are they afraid that there would be some public outcry against it? There are people who get angry when Marvel adds more minority and gay characters, but Marvel stands by their decisions because they are just trying to depict the way the world is. I just feel like Marvel needs a good stoner book, the way DC has always been very drug friendly with Swamp Thing.

I would support a stoner hero....not much would get done but seriously I think there is a lot to explore there.

The only Marvel stoner that comes to mind is the Superhero Squad Silver Surfer. Although maybe you could make a case for the regular Surfer also.

If you're interest in superhero who smoke weed, read The Bounce by Image comics.

Oh, get stuffed. Your little subculture in no way compares to racial and sexual minorities. In fact, the main reason I support legalization is so pot culture will lose its self-righteous "alt" cachet.

Once you start getting rounded up by the police for a non-violent crime, I think you have some degree of understanding the minority experience. Being forced to treat your smoking like it is a taboo and being viewed by society as a criminal for something that isn't hurting anyone feels similar to how gays were treated back when sodomy laws were actively enforced. Before legalization, I always had to worry that if a co-worked heard I smoke that I would become a pariah, which led to me feeling alienated just to preserve my privacy. Now that it is legal, I don't need to feel like my personal life could jeopardize my professional one. But I am glad you support legalization, if only to get us to stop acting like we are a civil rights movement.

Also, Marvel publishes anti-drug PSA comics in conjunction with public health/social work outreach agencies. So, broadly speaking, you're just not going to get the shock-value issue where a hero character is revealed as a recreational toker.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "the minority experience". People within an ethnic minority smoke weed. Moreover, that's an oversimplification of a minority problem, so you may have an idea of how they feel, but it's not the same--unless there are pot-smokers who are pulled over, suspected of being a pot smoker, beaten up, and arrested or killed.

That's the thing, though. At the moment, in many places, it's still a crime. Since Marvel has been against the smoking of cigarettes or cigars, which is a legal activity, I suspect the chances of them supporting the smoking of marijuana is incredibly slim.

I wasn't trying to act like I deserve the same sympathy as black people do, who have gotten one of the worst bum wraps in history at this point.
But people on the fringes of society who experience any degree of persecution, like stoners, are going to be far more sympathetic to what minorities go through than any of the racist idiots I hear at work or (sadly) at family reunions. The sad thing is that a lot of racists I know would swear up and down that they aren't racist, and I worry that if I didn't have a better understanding of how it feels when society collectively works against you, that I might fall into the same mental trappings as these other unintentional racists.
So because my experience will never be nearly as bad as being black in this country, I have no right to complain? You can;t complain unless you are getting the worst of the worst treatment? Moderate persecution is still enough to hurt people. Maybe you consider my issues first world problems, but as someone living where it is now legal, I can say that it really does feel like I got my own version of a civil rights movement, and no longer need to feel uncomfortable around others because of my private life.

To the person who said "they should just make a new character instead of hijacking existing characters with their PC SJW nonsense stoner-agenda", I wouldn't mind that. Hell, I wouldn't mind if no heroes smoke but they get a couple stoner sidekicks who man the computers and do all the fancy hacking. If they were going to make an existing character a stoner, the Ultimates would've been the time to work that, and it is now too late. They should've had Ultimate Hulk smoke weed to keep from transforming. And when he runs out of weed, he flips and Hulks out until they get him some to chill back out. Actually, that would be dumb, but would be funny if they ever make an Avengers parody film.

I think Furries are well catered for in the MU, it's the Bronies I feel sorry for. Gorgon doesn't count

In Giant Size Man-Thing #4, there's a hidden LSD reference. in the black and white Howard The Duck #6 ( I think) a character lights up a joint while sitting on a police car. There's a more recent issue of the Defenders that not really but sorta kinda implies the characters did hallucinigenics.

I'd say tons Marvel Comics from the 70's were stoner friendly even though they weren't actually about taking drugs.
