I mention that maybe banning speakers from College campuses isn't the best thing to do..it smacks of the Authoritarian tactics that the Right wing has utilized at their worst.

Just a point, freedom of speech does not guarantee freedom from criticism. All of our rights have a price attached, and the freedom of other people to say what they think of what you are free to say is the price of this one. People are perfectly in their right to tell people saying things they don't like to shut it. This goes doubly so if they own the building it's being said in, where they can be removed and never allowed to return for no reason they need specify because it's their property. Freedom of speech does not guarantee an audience.

Don't forget also that media brought out all the big guns against Trump since day one giving him nation wide coverage (even world coverage) and having the unintended consequence of making his messages heard everywhere... And after calling trump a nazi, Hitler, racist, anti semite, homophbic, chauvinist, etc for a large spans of month those insults ended up losing its effects and media credibility sank lower than the titanic , while Trump moderated his personality and appeared more presidential and less savage through the months to convince some of the independent and minorities that voted for him...

The fact that they only saw Trump as a crazy clown criminal and nothing else, not even considering the chance that Trump might be smart enough to play them is one of the reasons they lost... They never took him seriously until it was too late filled the well with so much crap that the facts were lost among those and sunk along with their credibility...

Have you ever read CNN or BBC or washing and Huffington post, or the young turks or... Well I could go one...

Let's just say that trump also got what he wanted from them... Free publicity, they were trump political campaign and they noticed it recently... And on top of it the people deliberately ignored their "warnings" against Trump and elected him... Money may be important but ideas are more important, and their ideas fell along with their credibility

That's the occam razor explanation and it holds well, on a deeper level it means that people are willing to put aside Trump racists remarks by a lying and biased media and put their interests in first place

I'm pretty sure it's the journalist job to see those kind of things... Because plenty of pundits saw Trump coming miles away but CNN deliberately ignored them ... I could tell you I did saw Trump coming wether you belive me or not...
