Part of the reason the first 2 FF movies were considered failures was because they decided to reboot though. That's an indication that they believed what they were doing didn't work. I actually think FOX might at least have been better off perception wise if they simply made a sequal to Rise of the Silver Surfer rather than rebooting and getting what they go here.

A reboot will likely be necessary this time around... but each reboot really is just going to cement the notion that of FOX not being able to do the FF movies right, if they themselves keep going back to the drawing board again and again and again. The fact that a lot of rumors center around FOX re-editing the directors stuff likely isn't going to help that. Because that creates the impression that the problem isn't the director or the cast or the script (those things can change with a reboot) but rather FOX itself.

That is very much in question. The first one made money but the second is in doubt. Studios only get about 50% of the box office and Fox has to pay a % of the gross to Marvel as well(rumored to be 5-10%) If they made any money it wasn't much and likely came later due to dvd sales and merchandising which Marvel controls and isn't doing for Fox anymore.

As for recasting and rebooting seriously? They are going to lose tens of millions on this movie and they are going to do it again out of spite? People act like Fox is Winston Churchill will to pay any price to hold onto these rights. Madness and not Sparta either.
