Default Has the Fox film harmed the Fantastic Four comic?

There is little doubt that the current Fantastic Four film has not been well received by most critics and many comic fans. Is it possible that the film's poor reception at the box office might actually delay the anticipated return of the Fantastic Four comic? Might Marvel keep the title on the shelf for a few years or even longer?

Marvel is going to do that regardless of if the movie bombed or made more money than Jurassic World.

If less people are buying FF, expect $6 per issue for all Marvel comics.

Nope just hurt the future of comic movies. Even if Disney gets the rights they probably won't make a proper ff film just use some characters.

Comic wise we won't see a proper ff book for awhile just scattered characters in other books and that was going to happen even if this had been the highest grossing film ever and critically acclaimed

You know that if/then statements are supposed to contain some sort of logical connection, right?

Not at all. FF fans don't care about that terrible movie. If Marvel puts out a great FF book, fans will buy it. Period

FF fans aren't going to be the market if Disney made an FF movie, the general public would be and they will remember the badly talked about FF and connect them. The property is toxic for the foreseeable future.

    Plus the op meant comics

The one issue of removing the team because of the film is out of sight out of mind.

If Marvel is keeping them out of sight until that 2015 movie is done. That could be a LONG LONG time.

    Theater run
    DVD release
Cable, broadcast & satellite run-and we know how they can OVER SHOW a movie. Especially one with 2 other films of the same name.

You leave them in limbo too long (I would say longer than 3 years-IF you count the cable & broadcast runs) you could end up dealing with the issue DC is having.

Remember the last guy DC took out of active use outside of comics. 1986-2011 and we saw the mess that is still causing as his replacement got popular with a show called Justice League.

    That person was Hal Jordan.

This is what Marvel has to be careful of.

Talk of that film will NEVER die because of Jordan had to put up with and he's the it young black male right now-so Marvel might as well stop being petty and bring that team back.

    No.

    But whiny purists' complaints might.

No, because Disney announced last year, they would be cancelling the book. 54 years running and the book get's cancelled.

Yeah the logic is Marvel needs any reason under the sun to increase comic book prices. The reasoning behind that is so their top brass can swim in tubs of caviar.

If People buying comics > FF comics sold then comics price = comics price + $1... ?

I should actually be the other way around, if less people are buying comics, you lower the quality of the publication print and lower the price to get them to buy it again. Do you think they wonder why comics are no longer selling at the levels of 10 years ago but revenue is actually up? (the 25% higher than inflation cost might tell them).

Absolutely, the movie has definitely hurt the reputation of the Fantastic Four.

Old fans may not care much about the movies, but good luck selling a comic when it relies on the influx of new fans to keep it afloat. Marvel has some serious damage control to do I think.

Nope. Movies don't spike up comic sales when they're good and won't spike down sales or "Tarnish" the brand when they're bad. In case people haven't noticed Green Lantern still gets published and Hal Jordan is still there no matter how much the film sucked. The FF is just getting some needed bed rest like Thor a few years back.

The Fantastic Four have never really been that interesting, but this movie may have destroyed or rendered toxic the concept of the fantastic four for years to come. Even the late night talk shows are making fun of it.
