Well... this is an unfortunate start. Im a fan of the film franchise, not happy with every moved thats been made but Ive been overall pleased with Singer's vision so thats enough for me to go down with the ship and see this opening night. The setup was there it sounds like this movie is just a double instead of grand slam.

At the end of the day, we all care about these characters and this franchise so its unfortunate that this thread has been so toxic with that back and forth, so much so that Ive kept distance because we all want whats best for the films, just in different ways. We should know by now that FOX is not going to lose the rights, they're not going to make deals with Marvel. So if this movie is as middling as everyone says it is, I guess its time to look towards the future with X-Force and New Mutants.

Deadpool didn't go to the outrageous levels tho. Fans wanted that out of the X-films tho. Now they got it.

Really? She compared his style in BvS to that. She didn't like Snyder much before this.

Besides, her statement is weirdly ironic, because Kubrick films were panned in the past and considered masterpieces now. Same with the Star Wars OT.

[QUOTE=TooFlyToFail;1999219]Thanks for summing up the general consensus. I'm kinda glad this happened, so that Singer can go back to his usual style of X-films. [QUOTE]

If this is the direction the X-Men films are going, I absolutely think Singer should jump ship. To me, his style he honed on the franchise so well was gone with this film generally and I don't think its a good fit in going forward.

That's the hilarious part of all of these reviews so far. Fans pushed for this closer to comic vibe and one of the main issues seems to be making it closer to comics.

    I can't even!

The X-men films have never been that great. It's just people realizing that they are doused in mediocrity. Even some of the best reviews have been "eh, it's more of the same." It's time for Singer and Kinberg to go and someone new to bring fresh and exciting ideas to these movies. It's not even a "send them to the MCU" thing it's just about making good films.

I think its been proven you can do both... make good movies that also stay true to the characters.

We just need a smaller movie, not about Erik or Xavier. Or it can have them, but they're not the focus. Or, just give them solos.

A Magneto solo about him founding Genosha.

An Xavier solo about him and Moira dealing with Proteus.

The next X-Men movie could take from Astonishing X-Men, or something.

Singer doesn't have to leave at all, but he can change up which characters are his leads now.

I think that's the comparison she was making. It was a poorly worded statement. She left herself wide open to attack.

Lol, true that, but then its not her fault people don't listen. Because she basically said in that same video that she had yet to be a fan of Snyder's movies, until BvS, so how'd he go from that to Kubrick level after one movie?

    Common criticisms:

-Jlaw phoning it in. Which was expected.
    -Underdeveloped villains.
    -Too many characters.

I've seen a few films that could have been good (some even great) but tried to cram too much in - and as a result left parts needed to follow the narrative on the cutting room floor.
    Dark does not mean deep.

Can it really be destruction porn when the movie is described as a destruction film?

Then it just becomes the same issue with a new set of the same characters because honestly he's had a fairly small cast the entire time and still only managed to develop an even smaller amount. He's making movies about the X-men themes but doesn't want to include the X-men. If these were random movies about random characters then I honestly wouldn't have a problem but don't boast "We've got character A and B" for your promo just to do nothing with them. His time is up and he needs to pass the reigns to someone else.
