Last movie you watched

Well movies are subjective, so it's hard to knock me disliking the movie. My three least favorite movies are Click, Batman and Robin, and Pacific Rim, if you wanted some reference

It's not very hard to knock someone for saying Pacific Rim is both completely disgusted and one of their least favorite movies ever. I'm not even going to say it's some great thing, (it's far better than those other two movies) it's got big problems with it's character stuff, but saying it's your least favorite movie just seems crazy. Sounds like you haven't seen many movies at all: Oh, that someone above average monster movie with some cool fight scenes...that's my least favorite movie ever. Hell, the damn thing is better than some of the super hero movies that come out. And coupling it with "completely disgusted"? There's nothing in the movie that those words could line up with.

Loved The Martian. Was really surprised with the characters in this, Ridley Scott is usually so detached when it comes to his character, but not here.

One of my friends had not seen it, so I ended up watching it again tonight. Now I'm very eager to own the blu-ray.

It was OK. I liked maybe three scenes in the movie but overall it was an average movie of the life of a criminal. We have seen this type of story before, nothing was really new or groundbreaking.

After the movie, I read the story of this guy on Wikipedia and his life story was much more interesting than what we saw on screen. They left so much stuff out, it's unbelievable. Hell they didn't even show what Whitey's line-of-work was in the criminal underworld. So as a spectator you were completely left out of loop. Yet the way they described what he was doing on Wiki was so interesting to me, that he was mainly a guy that was shaking people down for money. That's all he was doing but he was great at it. He wasn't dealing in drugs but was scaring drug dealers in giving him % of their profits. I like that he was a specialist at one thing but they never covered this in the movie.

I wanted to watch it, but after it was released, one thing or another came up and now I'll just wait for it to come out on home video.

What's fascinating about how much power he has is only a couple years ago a witness who was going to testify against him was killed and he's like 80-something now.

The Wizard of Oz. I hadn't seen it before (though I recognized almost every beat, if not from The Simpsons, then from similar), and I was honestly surprised at how astonishingly it holds up. It was so much more subversive than I'd imagined, with more satire and black comedy than I'd ever really considered. I'm glad I've seen it, though. It was a much more thoroughly enjoyable "classic" than some of its dryer, less technically adept peers.

Little nods like, "lots of people without a brain do an awful lot of talking," the entire string of items at the end where the Wizard gives the gang their "brain," "courage," and "heart," plus the reveal of the Wizard as a man behind the curtain... I don't know, I felt like it was definitely taking the piss out of something. I don't really have the cultural grip on American goings-on that I should to properly appreciate it, but 1939, World War II... there's something about the Wizard, his fear-mongering and subsequent worthless pats-on-the-back that screams "politics" to me.

As for black comedy... eh, mostly just a bunch of the squick. Stuff like Scarecrow being torn apart, the Wicked Witch melting, the way that Dorothy never really did anything but still managed to murder two people anyway... maybe it was just more cruel than I thought it'd be, but it falls in line with what I consider black comedy, for sure. I'm looking to watch Return to Oz next, mind - I've heard that kicks things up a notch or three, so I'll report back then!

ZsaZsa Zaturnnah

Nothing I can say would do this movie or this character justice. It's amazing. It's camp, it's insane, it has magic, it has aliens who inexplicably speak in English because in Flilipino films that's one way to show they're foreign aliens even if they're already from outer space, there's a scene with a giant CGI frog, and another scene with flying zombies sent by the aliens. It's the funniest thing I've seen in years!

You aren't really meant to like her. And she's a pretty great character.

Zodiac. 3.5/5 stars. Ruffalo continues to prove that he's one of the best supporting actors in the business.

Scicario-Emily Blunt's performance in the Edge of Tomorrow was the real reason I saw the film. I really disliked it a lot. Boring and derivative, I also found Blunt's character to be whinny.

I find that really Docs about people end up vastly superior to the movies about these guys. Same thing happened with Harvey Milk, movie was OK, the doc was great. Black Hawk Down, movie was decent the Doc was one of the best docs I've ever seen about any life experiences ever.

I think the key to Whitey's success was probably cause he was better at doing what he was doing. And he was willing to go very far to get what he wanted. Even though others may have been more ambitious or more organized.

Anyway thanks for the hook up for the doc, I'm gonna watch it.
