Black and gold spider man villian

Hoping someone can help me out I'm looking for a spider man comic book i had as a kid. Don't remember which one it was but the villain could transform into any hero or villain. I kinda remember the story the villain was mad at spiderman because his died pretending to be spiderman swinf from somewhere and fell to his death. Also peter was dog sitting for his neighbor while she was way. If anyone knows what issue this was i would greatly appreciate it.

You were a kid when this came out? MAN, that makes me feel so old.

If I recall correctly, this is a 3-part storyline in the Peter Parker: Spider-Man title, written by Paul Jenkins and drawn by Mark Buckingham. The villain is called Fusion. It's a pretty neat story as far as I remember, though it's been a while since I last revisited it.
