Default Image Comics poll week 34 - Finally a nice normal week

Last week we were pretty late; that's not happening this time though! Welcome to the weekly Image chat woooooo!

Basically we vote on the books we like every week and talk about them; last time Velvet #11 sped away with most of the votes.

This week is an almost unusually normal one; no new series launching, and even those running are mostly caught up in the middle of storylines. That doesn't mean there's nothing to mention though: Birthright ends its second arc, Rat Queens sees its first Stjepan Sejic-drawn issue, Savage Dragon begins a new story arc, and Island Magazine adds a Simon Roy comic about space cannibals to its pages!

Since there's no new series this week, here's the cover my inner Emma Rios-devotee liked best this time:

Looks like Invincible vs Rat Queens this week. Postal and Oddly Normal should be good, too, but aren't really contenders.

Manifest Destiny vs Rat Queens for me. No matter who loses, I win.

Invincible is my only book this week, but it would likely get my vote regardless of what came out (unless it was The Mercenary Sea, which is dead).

I wonder if perhaps I gave up on Birthright too soon? How has it been?

Birthright is excellent. The story is really ramping up right now too, it's pretty exciting actually.

So obviously i'm getting Birthright this week, I will probably pick up as well Rat Queens to check out the new art.

Birthright, Manifest Destiny, Mantle, Postal, and Trees for me this week. I think my vote it leading toward Birthright, but overall seems like a solid image week for my taste. After all of the Trees comments from these threads when issue 11 came out I found and read everything up to current and really like the story so far. hoping it continues to develop, but Trees is a solid book.

Light week with only BPRD for me, so I might pick up Wolf #2 as well.

Nothing Image for me this week (or, from the looks of it, next week either). I like the idea of Island but I haaaated the first issue. Did not care for Wolf #1 enough to return.
    Image Comics (TPB):
Saga, Southern Bastards, Injection, Descender, Deadly Class, Chew, Black Magick

    DC Rebirth (Digital):
The Flash, Batman, Green Lanterns, Aquaman

Oh I'll flip through Island and see what's in this issue. The last one was hit and miss, as anthologies are. I liked most of it, but Rios making the whole story red made it a less enjoyable experience. Just kind of hard to look at for so long, personally.

Wolf was alright. I like that it's kind of like Hellboy in that all this supernatural stuff is happening just out of view of normal life. However, I hated reading that guys word balloons in that last segment, and in the vampire segment. I detest that phonetic accent/lisp shit. All it does is slow down my reading experience and make it less enjoyable overall. I don't know why some writers insist on doing that. I would have liked this issue a lot more without that shit. Freddy was enough.

Had to give Birthright some love. Superb issue from top to bottom, beautifully drawn and colored and the story has me completely hooked!
