The fact that Smith endorses it should be reason #2 for it not happen. Reason #1 is that she can't act.
The girl isn't an actress, she's an athlete, and haven't we moved beyond letting athletes try their hands at films yet?
If she's serious about acting, she should start small with some independent pictures first or some local play or something, maybe join an acting class.
But being a great athlete isn't a springboard to success in films, despite The Rock having made that transition.
At this stage, she absolutely does not have the acting chops to be the lead in a blockbuster film. I wouldn't expect Gina Carano to be Wonder Woman, I wouldn't expect Rousey to be Captain Marvel - looks aside.
Is anybody considering the fact if she can act or not?
Kevin Smith endorses a bad idea. In other news, the sky is blue.
Good Marvel characters- Bring Them Back!!!
I wonder how many endorsements she will get after loosing her first fight? And she will, it's inevitable, if she is fighting the right people. That's what UFC was supposed to be about. Good fights. Right now I see her and keep thinking about the crash of Kimbo Slice. We won't know how good she is until she has to make it over a loss.
My Monthly Pulls - DC: Waiting for Deathstroke and Vigilante. Marvel: Moon Knight. The Vision, Waiting for Solo. Valiant: Bloodshot Reborn, Ninjak, Divinity III Stalinverse, Bloodshot USA event, Waiting for PSI Lords. Why aren't you reading Valiant and other Indies too?
The Rock isn't comparable because acting is part of Professional Wrestling. Even back in the day, everyone could see he was amazingly charismatic. The camera loved him. He cut his chops in wrestling, then worked his over to Hollywood, playing predictable action-hero roles and then slowly transitioned to comedies and from there to juicier roles.
Ronda going from UFC to Hollywood makes sense. Going from no acting to leading woman in a big budget film? No way. Even the Rock - who we knew could act reasonably well - still had to be a generic movie villain before he got his first leading role.
So the Captain Marvel won;t be out until 2018. That means filming will begin in 2017. If she could get an acting part today, then she might be able to wing that into the Captain Marvel role.
Still a long shot.
Sadly, just because you look the part does not mean you will get the part. Marvel can always transform the body of a good actor into something that looks right (look at what Hough Jackman does for the Wolverine role). Marvel cannot do the opposite.
She is not a very good actress... and her skillset (mma, mostly judo/jujitsu) doesn't really fit the character's fighting style (when she brawls instead of blasting people) either.
She woiuld certainly bring more attention to the role though. It's hard to deny she has a crapton of fans.
Technically, she has already acted in several films. That's how we know she's not particularly great at it.So the Captain Marvel won;t be out until 2018. That means filming will begin in 2017. If she could get an acting part today, then she might be able to wing that into the Captain Marvel role.
As a pilot, Carol might know enough krav maga to pass a test, maybe to defend herself a biy. She doesn't use much actual martial arts so much as throw big punches with super strength and absorb the same with her endurance.
That and I don't think Rhonda looks that much like Captain Marvel either. She's blonde, but not the right shade of blonde. She also doesn't have the right voice for Carol.
This would be a bad idea and just needs to be dropped before somebody actually takes it seriously.
shes not right for Captain Marvel but i think she can be a good shehulk.
