Agreed. We already have a show set in the zombie apocalypse. I want to see how we got from here to there, and this show so far is delivering.

Well, he did that, and his friend tried to kill him, so... maybe running out of options.

Well, yeah, that was the point. There were several deliberate shots of him shambling like the zombies do, severe fake outs to tease the zombie apocalypse to come but that isn't here yet, etc. The show played very heavily with visual foreshadowing and parallels to the upcoming apocalypse, and the shambling half-dead addict-as-protagonist reminding us of zombies was one of the more obvious ones IMO.

Honestly, I think Travis' character is the best so far.

Yeah there's a developed relationship between Nick and the boyfriend. They also alluded to the link between the boyfriend's son and Nick.

    Everything was generic.
    Nothing new was seen here.
The only interesting thing i found was the pimply kid. He knows what's up. I want to see him become a kick ass zombie killer.

I really hope we get to the zombos quick cause the family stuff was nothing special.

How was everything generic? What new did you want to see? I mean, it's a prequel. What would you have liked to see that was missing? I don't know what else one would expect from a show about normal civilization about to get slapped by the zombie outbreak.

Agreed. I really don't understand the reasoning behind all the complaints.

Maybe the writers should have used a porno setting instead of bringing in a family. Zombie sluts! With silicon bags falling out of their rotting chests! Coked up "fluffers" running for their lives!

Or the writers could have used the setting of a Hollywood zombie movie. Imagine the possibilities there.

    Stock characters and scenes.
How many times have we seen the junky see something that no one else believes?

Step parents that the kids dont like.

What new did you want to see?
The mexican gang story from WD was interesting.
Like i said, the little pimply kid was caught my eye.
How about a story where some one actually prepares instead of stumbling around through the whole process?

This was the problem with this show from any person that has seen zombie movies before.
This setting has been used so many times. So what this show has to rely on is bringing in interesting characters and that wasnt accomplished either.

I guess we are going to have to wait until the big zombo breakout happens because genero family 75-f-673 finally starts making hard choices that will finally make them interesting.

This show is so generic the next episode may be that the druggy gets sent to jail cause he killed that dude, the zombo dies in-between episodes, and the dad and mom keep saying that his story is true but no one believes them cause they just want to protect him.

It's AMC, not HBO. Why would you suggest porno zombies?

    That's already been done too.

I kind of agree with Hula. When it all boils down to it and you ignore the "Dysfunctional Family" story plots this was just another Zombie Flick. What can this show do that Walking Dead hasn't? Unless the zombies go all Special like in Left for Dead. This is just filler until WD starts back up.

Thing is, the viewership of WD goes beyond zombie fans. I personally don't really care for the genre. What WD did to draw me in was to create characters, plotlines, and a universe that could generate interest indefinitely. Most of my friends who watch feel the same way I do.
