Gaia was an alien mutant, as I recall (and I doubt anyone feels like going back to read the issue to be sure). Meaning she was a mutant of extraordinary power (she's a reality-warper) on her own planet, which was subsequently destroyed when she refused to be used by some baddie or some such. She sacrificed everything in the cause of doing the right thing.

I actually liked Gaia before she dyed her hair pink and became super-flaky, lol.

I really would not be surprised if she shows up in Guardians of Galaxy at some point. Once she evolves past her larvae stage she is strong enough to destroy star systems.

I'm hoping she wasn't an afterthought and was someone who he really wants to work with. I would like to see her not just be muscle that likes to hit things. Maybe touch on her genius level intellect instead of just being snarky.
