    Default Hail Hydra #2. Spoilers

Well, here we find out the regeneration process Ian Rogers has from Zola. This is a very brutal issue, and if you're squeamish, it's not a good look at our heroes. Remender does his thing where he kills everybody, but not before he speedily gets more people introduced just so he can torment them. Hold onto your hats.

    Spoilers

Leopold breaks Ian's back and as Leo reports to Zola, he looks back and there is a bloody trail from where Ian was lying. He escaped, and Zola orders Leo to get him, but he refuses. Ian gets found in the sewers by a girl, turns out it's his sister in another life. Not his real sister. He meets Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter then, telling them he is their son, but they think he's a Zola plant. Venom attacks and kills a version of Tony Stark. Then Sharon tells Ian to takes her daughter away and safeguard her, as Venom rips off her head, and webs up Steve for later debauchery by Zola. All other resistance fighters are killed by Venom and his Venom crew, and the daughter has been infected with Venom virus and will soon turn.

    End of Spoilers

It was nice at least to see the regeneration process in Ian at last, as he cracks his back into place again, and is healed up for the escape chase. Now we know why you can't kill him, even if you blow him up, or cut his throat.

But Remender leaves no opportunity go by to show mortal wounding and gross mutilation, and Roland Boschi accomplises him adequately.

My theory: the Ian who returned from Dimension Z will wind up being the version of Ian from this world, with 616 Ian remaining trapped there, and that it will be a major plot point when Remender returns to Marvel in a year, dealing with Nomad being an evil imposter from another dimension.

Rick was too sick for my taste. It's getting out of control.

But I bet there are readers who took in the same pleasure.

Those Vipers though. I like how they were brutal, it fits Viper and Venom concept so much.

Having seen his work on Ghost Rider during Jason Aaron's run, I'd agree with you there. And hey, Venom's been a gruesome bastard for years, even when he was in his more heroic phases with Eddie Brock or the ongoing starring Flash Thompson as the symbiote's host. Nothing out of the ordinary. Pretty sad for Steve and Sharon and their daughter, though.
The spider is always on the hunt.
