I think a lot of people stopped joking about Aquaman after the Geoff Johns' run.
I'm apprehensive about Momoa's portrayal, yes he looks menacing but I think he is just going to be "Conan, but in water".

Of course. This is a serious movie with super serious characters. Fun is for losers.

Oh, they'll still joke about Aquaman but they'll be brand new jokes.
yeah I kind of agree with you, I gotta say still worried about the movie, the trailer looks great but how much can you go by trailers and we didn't see Aquaman there, and although the new take on Aquaman looks great on the still, Jason Momoa isn't known for complex acting, and I think to do an acceptable live Aquaman will require that.
Momoa is the biggest potential weak link here. He's fine in background roles on TV, but he really doesn't project a whole lot of range or charisma (or, honestly, acting ability) in more substantial roles, esp. on the big screen. And the fact that it's being directed by a guy whose resume consists mostly of low-budget horror movies and a Fast and Furious sequel doesn't instill much confidence in his ability to coax layered performances out of actors.
Currently Reading: A handful of series that will be canceled soon.
Insidious, The Conjuring and Furious 7 are 3 really well done movies. I think James Wan will be able to really make a great movie. I am looking forward to it.

I'm actually hoping there are Aquaman jokes in the movie just like there were in the Geoff Johns comic,

ideally in the begining of the movie. Partially for comic relief but mostly so that after two hours of Arthur being awesome the audience will see how misguided those jokes are. Also I want this moment in the end of the movie.

I think I'm with Fishyzombie , I would love to see a few jokes in the movie and then a 'you were saying?' kind of action sequence
