Alirght, so I came up with these lineups as a divergence from UXM 250. At the end of that issue Gateway snatched the 4 remaining Outback X-Men, Colossus, Dazzler, Havok, & Psylocke back from the Savage Land immediately after they had rescued Lorna Dane from Zaladane with the help of Ka-Zar. We saw in flashback the following issue that Psylocke had sent herself and the other 3 through the Siege Perilous to escape a vision of their deaths at the hands of the Reavers. But what if Gateway HADN'T teleported them back? What teams all claiming to be the X-Men might we have had then? Well since that group is making their way back from the Savage Land Logan & Jubilee still encounter the Reavers as before, but everything else happens a bit differently . . .

Outback X-Men
Havok (Leader & Cosmic blasts)
Dazzler (Disco Inferno! building more & more confidence as part of this team)
Psylocke (Titanic telepath and British Bad@$$ Babe, never becomes a ninja)
Colossus (Heart, soul & muscle of the team)
Riot! (Lorna Dane with her new emotion affecting powers)
Magma (recruited back from Nova Roma on the team's way back from the Savage Land)
Gateway (Spirtual leader and transportation)
NOTE: Lorna's new emotion affecting powers result in most of the male Reavers turning against one another allowing the team to defeat Lady Deathstrike & drive them off. The Reavers therefore never attack Muir Island. Lorna's powers also lead to a love triangle between her, Alex & Peter until Gateway helps her to learn via aboriginal spiritual practices to better control her abilities at which point she ends up choosing Peter and leaving Alex open to finding somebody else.

Wolverine & the X-Men
Wolverine (initial leader, believes the outback team dead & slowly recovering from the Reavers' attack)
Jubilee (Logan's protege & rescuer)
Sunfire (goes on the run with Logan & Jubilee while they're on the run as House Yoshida is overrun by the Hand)
Strong Guy (joins the others when they arrive in California)
Stormy (lil' Ro)
Gambit (Stormy's rescuer & man of mystery)
Spider-Man (What? Yep. After killing Charlemagne in the Spider-Man vs Wolverine mini-series [which is where Logan was before he came back to the Reaver's trap] he can't face his friends & family back in New York & turns to Logan for guidance to cope with committing the murder)

Savage Land X-Men Engaged in a battle to save the Savage Land from enslavement under Zaladane & the Savage Land Mutates. They've got an uphill battle before they will return to the outside world & join the battle with the Shadow King.
Magneto (Leader, Master of Magnetism)
Ka-Zar (Magneto's chief ally in opposing Zaladane who comes to owe a blood dept to Magneto)
Rogue (Spit out from the Siege Perilous and surprised to find herself attracted to Magneto)
Toad (longtime ally and devotee of Magneto, Toad wasn't used at all during this time period, let's say he finds Mags and seeks purpose with this team)
Karma (Searching for her younger siblings she finds her way to the Savage Land & joins this team)
Vertigo (repentant former member of the Savage Land Mutates who has come to help free her native land to make up for her time in the Marauders)
Quicksilver (On the outs with the Avengers Pietro agrees to help his father with this more noble cause)

I love it!

Aw, thanks. I figure it would be a great team and I'd get two of my fav pairings in comics - Brian & Meggan and Kitty & Pitor - back in focus, and it would be nice to see Brian and Betsy together on a regular basis as opposed to the occasional issue of X-Force. Nightcrawler's awesome, and given she's Welsh it makes total sense for Pixie to be on an Excalibur team with her BFF Kitty.

You need a brawler, an infiltator, someone that can fight even without his powers : Wolverine ( not the waterdowned version they have given us of late )
You need someone taht can take you out of danger if push come to shove : there are a few : Blink, Magik, but i settle for Nightcrawler : he can fight too
And you need someone with a dash of magic , even if it is black magic : So, here comes Magik
A mutant team cannot do without a telepath : Jean Grey
A weather control godess is a must : then Storm.
And just because i like her and she can phase her way in and out of danger : Shadowcat

I would read a book with that line-up until the seas boiled dry. Great team and I really like their different power sets.
