Didn't you read the first sentences? It doesn't matter if the story was resolved eventually as long as it took 4 years or longer for writers to do so. And this story was left dangling for a good long while after it was first introduced by Lee & Portacio (who hadn't even fully planned the story yet) and before it was resolved by Lobdell & co.
