One of the most progressive eras of DC often gets overlooked-
The 1980s.
We had Huntress, Power Girl and Firestorm arriving in the late '70s, spearheading the new DC generation, soon followed by Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, Changeling (a slightly revamped Beast Boy), Jericho, Nightwing (an updated Robin), Halo, Katana, Geo-Force, Looker, Jade, Obsidian, Fury, Brainwave Jr, Northwind, Nuklon, Silver Scarab, Wildcat, Jonni Thunder, Dr. Midnight, Hourman, Skyman (an updated Star-Spangled Kid), Vixen, Vibe, Gypsy, Steel, Blue Devil, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Fire, Ice, a new Dr. Light, and even a new Flash (an updated Kid Flash).
The 1980s (1984, in particular) is where the New Teen Titans, Outsiders, Legion of Super-Heroes, Infinity Inc, and even Justice League Detroit, represented the next generation of the DC Universe.

I don't like the New Teen Titans
I think Tim Drake was boring until he became Red Robin
I think the Young Justice show is better than I ever liked the comic.
One of my favorite Catwoman arcs is when Selina is a mother.
I don't like Cassie Sandsmark
I think Nightwing, and Wally and the only interesting Titans members

It's a bit more complicated than that, but rather than subject you to my feelings only, perhaps you should check the thread yourself. Maybe starting with this post would be a good place to start.
- Dick as Robin in every era pre CIOE has always more personality and more interesting than Nightwing. Ive noticed everyone who has said otherwise on Wiki is a Tim Drake fan.
- Jason's real tragedy is being brought back, not dying.
- Anything after Flashpoint was wrong for Damian.
- Red Robin is the worse book for Tim.
- Yeah Super Sons is overrated.
- The New Frontier should receive the same appreciation that Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen got, that goes for its writer Darwyn Cooke's portrayal of Batman instead of Miller.
I think it was Margot kidder that made me dislike Lois. Too often her Lois was just a JERK and I spent a lot of years thinking Superman could do better. Especially come Superman III when Lana came back as the nice girl back home.
Smallville Lois also had her jerk moments... but they were also thrown in as kind of a spunky teasing that I found fun. It's the age old dilemma of how do you show someone as driven and ambitious... without being an arrogant jerk.
-I always found Secret annoying.
-I always wanted Helen Jordan to come back and stay with her uncle because I miss that dynamic between them and it made Hal a better person to be a father.
-Smallville annoyed me after the first season and until we got Lois in.
-Too many of the younger teen and Teen and young adult characters are underappreciated.
-Damian Wanye is far less interesting then Jon Kent.
-I never saw the reason why we have to have a Bat and Cat romance in the first place
-Edward Nigma is a better Detective then Batman.
There was a real looking-forward sense to things, with exciting new characters (and teams), and older characters finding new roles (Batman leaving the League to form the Outsiders, or Robin 'graduating' to Nightwing, or some of the older Legionnaires retiring to marry and have kids, to pick some examples), as well as a sense of legacy and continuity. The Flash had died in Crisis, and his protégé was taking up the slack. It felt like growth and forward-movement and things could change.
There was also a lot of originality to newer characters introduced. There might be a new Robin, or a new Flash, or some new Green Lanterns, but there were also characters like Booster Gold or Vixen or Tellus or Starfire or Katana, who weren't 'legacies' of anything, but their own fully-realized characters, while even some of the actual legacies, like Infinity Inc. weren't all just new faces under old masks, copying their predecessors (like Obsidian, whose powers and nature didn't really follow in the footsteps of either of his parents).
I wish Hal Jordan would spend more time on Earth then in space.
Christopher Reeve was great as Clark Kent, but poor as Superman.
I haven’t got around to re-reading all of STARMAN, so I can’t say if I’d be less impressed the second time around. It’s one of those rainy day projects for me (among many).
But you got to admire Black Manta’s commitment. Must have taken weeks to read the whole thing again—for something that ultimately proved unworthy.
I wonder at what point in the project he lost faith in the work—and how did he find the strength to keep going. I would have given up.
