Cheers buddy. I am going to try and post more, hopefully... let's see how long that lasts
WAIT? Lockjaw's gay??? The big Inhuman dog??? When did that happen???
I don't think Ru should be ashamed.
spoilers:end of spoilers
To answer some questions, Thorgy gave Ben the whiteout; Thorgy uses it on his nails, or something like that. And didn't know why Ben was borrowing it. I don't think it was scripted, personally. If it was planned, Ru wouldn't have given Ben so many wins. More than any other queen in the history of the show? No. In terms of the lipsync, Ru HATES queens taking off their wigs with no wig or reveal underneath. I just watched an episode form season 8, and Ru's face when Lineysha's wig comes off is NOT. IMPRESSED. I do think Bebe knew, I think she threw the lipsync (because I agree, she was owning it until the wig came off). But in terms of "this was planned since the beginning" no way, Ben didn't need to win 5 for it to be shocking. 3 would have been more than enough. I do think Bebe threw the lipsync, I do think Ru knew what Ben had done, or maybe Ben had made it clear he was going to leave win or lose, so giving him the win is just more dramatic.
I do agree whoever wins will be "the default queen"; and I feel bad about that.
As a side note: could someone who is a Trixie fan explain to me why she's so beloved online/by fans. I just don't get it. I don't dislike her, but I don't understand why so many think she's slaying everything (when... she's clearly not).
EPISODE 7 SPOILERS
spoilers:end of spoilers
Meh. It was an okay episode, but 2 out of 5 doing a good job, makes a challenge boring. Also I felt it was time for a non-performance challange, no make-over this season???? I think it's fair to send Morgan home, he needed to fight hardest, and arguably faultered most (loved that Scottish period dress though). I feel bad for Kennedy, being in the bottom 4 times is just not good for anyone's ego. I did not like both Morgan and Kennedy's reaction to Ben leaving. Felt very ungrateful; since both were only there to bitch about it because of him.
Shangela again impresses, her lipsync was hilarious, and she's my choice to win (other than just crowning Ben, because he's the best)
"We are Shakespeare. We are Michelangelo. We are Tchaikovsky. We are Turing. We are Mercury. We are Wilde. We are Lincoln, Lorca, Leonardo da Vinci. We are Alexander the Great. We are Fredrick the Great. We are Rustin. We are Addams. We are Marsha! Marsha Marsha Marsha! We so generous, we DeGeneres. We are Ziggy Stardust hooked to the silver screen. Controversially we are Malcolm X. We are Plato. We are Aristotle. We are RuPaul, god dammit! And yes, we are Woolf."
Re: Kennedy and Morgan...
spoilers:end of spoilers
They are two pragmatic and IMHO sensible businesspersons who have zero time for worrying about how a fellow queen will think about them PLUS they actually want $100,000 and assorted prizes. They also saw straight through the Ben DeLaChrist routine as did Trixie and Shangela and... everyone else in their reactions if I remember correctly.
Trixie and Katya's Youtube show was the funniest and most random thing I've seen in years, and I tuned in every week for a new episode. I also watched their Viceland show regularly, and Trixie's just as popular with Bob the Drag Queen as a guest co-host as she was with Katya. Trixie's also a talented musician in addition to her off-center comedy.

So.........uh.............the reason he's called "Lockjaw" is because his jaw constantly aches from certain....furious and repetitive exercise?

Welcome Back Kieran!! Yeah I'm Team Bendela all the way too (but I'm not getting into those shenanigans now)!! Regarding Trixie _ I like her lots but the format of the show does not suit her consistently. There are many queens like her that are great 1 on 1 or on youtube but are often not as exciting live or in a group scenario. That said:

I thought Trixie was the best in the challenge this week as the Erin Brokovich parody - ...But Shangela owned that lipsync. I'm sure Shangela Targaryen is going to take the Iron Crown.
So Season 10 starts next week. My early impression: Eureka is going to bulldoze through this.Lots of baby queens and Drag Daughters. Early faves : Mayhem Miller and Kameron Michaels (hot in and out of drag). Also Ms Vangie Mateo and Yuhua Hamasaki giving me life.
Anyone watching Alan Ball's new show " Here and Now" - Cool cast ( Tim Robbins/ Holly Hunter) - as usual lots of gay characters and there's a gender fluid Iranian-American character that is very intriguing.
I'm seeing this new trend as to relates to the LGBT+ community in YouTube comments. (Yes, I actually read them.)
Anyway, I am finding more and more of people (straight, most likely) relating testimonials about how every male gay person they know is only gay because they were molested by a man in their formative years.
Sometimes, you'll have a person clap back by saying that they themselves are gay and that they were not molested, but overall, its people replying that these particular gay men need therapy and Jesus.
I just think it is ridiculous that they could believe that most gay people are only gay due to molestation. It's not surprising, but it still is ridiculous.
Though you always have that one person in the comments busting holes into their theories with statements to the effect of, "What about the men molested by men who go on to have relationships with women?", or the fact that person can be gay independently of being raped by a man.
Just something that has been irritating me for a while. (Moral of the story: Don't read YouTube comments)

LOVE. HIS. WORK! It was one of the first ever "gay art" stories I ever read.
I'm enjoying that show; my husband introduced me to it. When that old man in the first episode said "you can't change ugly" my heart broke. I also like that it's not actually just about fixing clothes, but working out personality and what can change (or help someone come out to their mom, which was super cute). Plus some of the guys in the show are super fit, which never hurts.
Ahhhhhhh, oh thank-you (and numberhirty). Who doesn't love the D... man
Wow, you really got it in for him; I don't see it like that at all.

LOVE BEN. Such an amazing performer, and I totally get what he did, he doesn't need the crown, or the money. And if you're no longer hungry for it, why deny others? I loved his EPIC Ben dela Christ move. Iconic. But so was everything he did this season, he truly delivered. The burlesque, Julie Andrews, Paul Lynde. I even loved his Misty Knight-esq Warhol Ball outfit. I find Kennedy in this season has come of as... intentionally obtuse. When she was going on and on about "it's not about stats" I wish someone had called her on it and said "yeah, well you would say that, you have the lowest stats"
Ah, thank-you for this... so people like Trixie because of stuff not on the show?

Of course you are, because YOU have gorgeous taste.

She did well, but part of me thought: if Ben was here, he would have been the queen, Bebe the Beige Swan, Trixie La La... oh well. It just wasn't a good episode, when 3/5 aren't funny... eh. I did like Trixie in it, but I felt it was quite similar to... everything else she does. Her runway though... GORGEOUS! The second best she's every looked.
By the way, has anyone see the freak out on Instagram over that lipsync? Ugh! Some (a far larger number than just one crazy voice) is crying "fat shaming of women" about the performance. Honestly I'm amazed how many Drag Race "fans" profess to love the show, yet are so sensitive over every damn non-PC thing, you wonder why on Earth they watch a show that is from an artform that exists to push boundaries, not conform and be controversial???
I... didn't like Eureka. Everyone talked about what a strong competitor she was, and I just don't see it.
There's an insidious association/intentional implication some like to make with that (and Kevin Spacey did NOT help that!!!) The way some teachers in schools LOVE to tell you about adult males in ancient Greece having young lovers (to sow that seed of association), but then completely ignore and hide the fact there were countless ADULT relationships between men too. Hell the ancient Greeks had an entire army of gay lovers.
Those people making comments aren't ignorant, they know EXACTLY what they're trying to do, and it's insidious and nasty. But you should never read comments, especially on YouTube

Ha! Oh ragged maw.
Yeah I've got my eye on Yuhua too. Interesting that she's Chinese but with a Japanese sounding name? Anyway I can't wait
the stuff with bendela sure was shocking though. I'm kind of glad though because I'm a huge Bebe stan and she was a major threat
The Sacred Band of Thebes. I read a bit about them. They were quite the badasses. This kid in my Anthropology class summed it up pretty well, "The Greeks were smart enough to know that men would fight harder on the battlefields if their boyfriends were right beside them." One day we need a feature film about them and other non-hetero badasses throughout history.
Since I'm studying to go into either anthropology or sociology (though I'm double majoring in both and definitely want to utilize both fields in a future career), I'm trying not to judge a culture by the standards of my own so much. Knowing and reading about pederasty as it pertains to Ancient and Greek societies definitely squicked me out, but, like you said, there was more to Ancient Greece homosexuality than just men in their late 20s and early 30s getting it on with boys in their mid-to-late teens. Teachers also neglect to mention the fact that those relations weren't strictly about sex. At the time, they were considered a Greek male citizen's induction into adulthood, through the learning of government, politics, etc.
I know most know exactly what they're doing, but I am sure a few actually believe that they are doing God's work. Those people making comments aren't ignorant, they know EXACTLY what they're trying to do, and it's insidious and nasty. But you should never read comments, especially on YouTube
I also know that I shouldn't read YouTube comments, but sometimes I like to torture myself lol
