Worth watching? I love Carpenter and seen comparisons to Halloween re Someone's Watching Me!, but I've seen reviews say it's fairly pedestrian and average. I still need to see some of his more notable works (like Assault on Precinct 13 and Big Trouble in Little China) anyway.

Saw Beginners the other night based on Kieran's fondness for it. Love it! Wonderful soundtrack too.

It's not bad, but its budget shows, for sure. There are some good scares, and some interesting ideas about sexism and the invisibility of certain people in late 70s America, because of gender or occupation, but it's not revolutionary.

I'd recommend Assault before Someone's Watching. Assault on Precinct 13's set up of the ignored/put-off police, the black guy, the women, the old man, and a career criminal as finally getting their chance to take a stand and do something is pretty cheer-worthy. The remake, of course, swaps it all around, so the woman is sex-crazed for badboys and squeals a lot, the hero's a white guy, etc. Because no matter how progressive you are, thirty years later, there's still idiots who can remake your movie.

Wishing you luck, too, Silvermoth. Happy for you!

And, because I'm watching When Night is Falling again, I have a question for you fine folks: What's the last thing you saw where a homosexual or bisexual couple work through complications to get together during the course of the story, but the complications don't include one of them presenting as straight?

Grey's Anatomy's Calliope Torres and Arizona Robbins had a LOT of obstacles before they got married. One of the main ones was the pregnancy of Callie (who is bisexual), when she slept with her male best friend after a Callie/Arizona breakup. But they dealt with a lot of other stuff-- Arizona's moving overseas, her lack of desire for children and Callie's inexperience with women were some initial ones. Of course, they faced a lot more once married spoilers:
which eventually resulted in their divorce, seasons after the marriage. Callie's bisexuality hasn't been erased, though-- if anything, she asserts her bisexual identity MORE now than during the marriage, and Arizona is of course still a lesbian. The show still is an important one as far as primetime representation goes, the divorce hasn't affected that IMO. It was a realistic outcome of both characterizations, years of development led to it naturally.
    end of spoilers

That's so sweet. Sending positive vibes your way. Best of luck.

I'm chatting with a cute guy (over Facebook of all places) too. No idea if he's gay or not, but he is nice.

Have you seen the new teaser for Batman vs. Superman? It looks like DC is trying to out-gay the Steve/Bucky relationship.

America/Bucky/Russia - you're not alone mate. Not chatting to any cute guys - or any guys for that matter - over here in Korea :/ Slim pickings when one doesn't fit in.

Hope everyone is doing well these days. Happy December.

Haha the only way you can out gay stucky is to make a movie directed by Sean Cody

Seriously I didn't really read it as gay. They seemed over the top macho in my opinion. Like two guys trying to prove how straight and male they are.

Happy December to you too! You don't need to chat to guys all the time, just the ones you think are cute give it time, someone will pop up

Yeah with Batman v Superman, Superman broke some of Batman's stuff and Batman hates him for it. Pretty straight forward- so to speak

With Civil War, it's a gay "Fatal Attraction". Steve cheated on Bucky with Tony and now is going back to Bucky and Tony's all "I'm not going to be ignored, Steve!"
Tony decides to kill Bucky because then Steve will have to love him.

Thanks! We're expecting a rather nice snowfall this week. Makes the start of December very happy indeed. Although, sometimes I do miss a summer Christmas

With the Batman vs. Superman teaser I wasn't saying they literally seem gay in it, I was thinking that it's pretty ripe for gay fanfiction/gay porn parody and the Steve/Bucky relationship is pretty much the same way.

Also it looks like next week's Agents of S.H.E.L.D. mid-season finale will be the first time we see an openly-gay superhero in action outside of the comics, I'm really looking forward to it.
