Arguably, the only thing God 'needs' is companionship. Hence the creation of sentient beings capable of interacting with God in meaningful ways.

God doesn't need us. But he wants us. I'd rather be wanted than needed any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Every day is a gift, not a given right.

I don't feel like want and need are mutually exclusive.

When God creates sentient beings, it is the expression of both desire and a lack that can only be filled by meaningful relationships.

I sincerely hope that Christians and everyone else who considers themselves a moral crusader are willing to go out in a few weeks and vote against the horrible stuff being carried out in the name of their God.

Unfortunately, the Republicans will once again getbthe majority of the Christian vote. It is up to non- Christians to stop this.

Are you suggesting God is going to send a bear to eat those who disagree with you? That does not sound like a very Christian attitude.

Jesus would have probably been banned from coming to this country due to living in the wrong middle eastern nation, assuming he didn't get his voting rights suppressed by being thrown off the rolls. He'd also be a pariah to modern conservatives for his work with the poor/refugees/sex workers/etc.

So please: Vote to defend Christianity from those abusing it while unrepentantly breaking as many commandments as they can get away with.

Oh man we could do a whole "What If" thread on what would happen if Jesus came today. I imagine much of what you are saying is true. And none of us would be without blame for the way the world has become.

I will defend Christ and support Him with my vote. So no worries, my friend.

So a side note to all of this in regard to the "God hasc, and forgive the use for better lack of term, "eyes and ears everywhere", I recently learned of this theory about basically everything being in a virtual world and we are, boiled down, ones and zeros ala binary code and that someone programmed us.

My theological friend took this farther and suggested that were all sims in God's game that was programmed and everything we do is just basically him/her/them typing in code and making all the choices for us.

Personally I find this theory disturbing but I'm passing it off to others. So what do you guys think of the idea that God is a programmer and were all little sins in a perpetual state world in some weird server where they are playing a game ala the sims?

I wasn't scoffing at God. I was scoffing at chongjasmine who suggested that God needs something.

I think these may have been asked somewhere in the early pages of this thread but I can't find it at the moment, but:

How long do you believe Adam and Eve were in the Garden before they were cast out?

Do you consider Adam's lifespan (930 years) to have started in the Garden or from when he set foot on Earth?

Personally, I believe they were in Eden for a long time and that it took a long, long time for the Whisperer to get them to eat the forbidden fruit.

How about starting with who believes Adam and Eve actually existed as opposed to the scientific explanation for the origin of humankind?

First of all, this post is offensive. Second of all, you have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about. It wasn't that God wasn't able to stop Christ's sacrifice. On the contrary, it was Jesus's mission to fulfill the prophecy and make the ultimate sacrifice for all of our sins. Yours included

I'm not saying I'm for one or the other because I believe all politicians are crooks. But who exactly do you want Christian's to vote for Kirby? The Democrats who pass laws to continue abortions? Those politicians?
