    Live Action:
Corner Gas - It's only been off of the air for a few years but it's already a Canadian classic.
Seinfeld - Just about every episode is rewatchable, which is good since its re-runs seem to be on every channel.
The Closer - Only recently got into re-runs of this show a little while after it finished but it is good stuff.
Cutthroat Kitchen - Which is a nice spin on the cooking competition format, with chefs going at each other's throats and wallets.
Community - A show worthy of the critical praise it received, minus the first few episodes of season one and most of the fourth season.
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson - "Careful, Icarus."

    Cartoons:
Animaniacs - One of the finest comedies to incorporate satire, parody, and savvy political commentary into its gags.
Frisky Dingo - From the guys who would eventually bring you Archer (also a great show) comes the story of a giant naked alien and the rich a-hole who tries to stop him.
Clone High - 13 semi-strange/glorious/acquired taste episodes about cloned historical figures.
Spider-Man: The Animated Series - "SHOOOOOOOCKKKKKEEEEEEEER!"
Moral Orel - One of the sweetest, strangest and saddest pieces of claymaytion ever made.
The Simpsons - I know the quality has gone down in recent years but darn it if it's first twelve or so seasons aren't filled to burst with comedy gold.

    Oddball Fun

    1. Amazing Stories
    2. Gotham
    3. Airwolf
    4. The Three Stooges
    5. Spongebob Squarepants
    6. Family Ties
    7. The Andy Griffith Show
    8. Werewolf
    9. Duck Tales
    10. Moonlighting
    11. The Young and the Restless
    12. Jem
    13. The Gene Autry Show
    14. Arrow

"Amazing Stories" (NBC) tops my list, simply because it captured a modern age fascination with oddball profits. The show was nominated for 12 Emmys and won 5.

There's that terrific movie adaptation of this fantasy-paranoia TV series which starred Kevin Costner.

    Top 5 all time.

    The Wire
    Breaking Bad
    Battlestar Galactica
    The Office UK
    Sherlock

    Only one still ongoing.

These days I mostly prefer a shorter show with a singular vision from one writer. Or a few if need be. I can't stand a writers room anymore. I realize almost none of my favorites qualify.

    Ongoing I enjoy

    Luther
    Fargo
    Broadchurch
    Downton Abbey

I am also anxiously awaiting The Hollow Crown War of the Roses. The first Henriad was brilliant.

Favourite of all time: Angel. I think I love TV shows because of this show. I love the supernatural stuff, the soap opera stuff and the main plot running through the show. The show really hit all the right notes in season 3, faltered a bit with season 4 and became really awesome in season 5. It never got to have that 6th season I think Joss and company wanted, to have the overarching "Belly of the Beast" story they started with season 5 and how things would have played out with Illyria and Wesley, but man did it have one of the best endings on TV, IMO.

Shows that are so amazing that I can't wait to watch more:

Game of Thrones - 4 seasons done and I know they will soon have to deviate from the books by a large margin, but man is this an epic TV show. It has pretty much everything that I could possibly want in a TV show. Everything. I have a feeling that when it's all done, this show will replace Angel as my favourite TV show of all time.

Arrow - I initially wrote it off even before trying it because I'm a pure Marvel fanboy and it made me feel like I was betraying my "family" by even considering the show. My friend, who loves Batman and Superman who started reading a few comics here and there because of the Nolan movies and knowing how much I love comics said I really needed to give this show a shot. After binge watching the first 6 episodes, I was hooked. Loved how season 2 played out. Watched a couple of episodes of season 3, but I'm looking to watch it all or most of it in a couple of days when it's all done.

Firefly - I can guarantee that if this show had been given a full run, with the sample of the 13 episodes we got, that it would have been my favourite show ever. Past, present and future. I had that much confidence in this show. It had a great universe, all the characters were fascinating and the chemistry between the crew was so perfect that even their weakest episode (Heart of Gold) had beautiful and powerful moments that made me love the show.

24 - I can say that the first 5 seasons were worth it. After the first 4 hours of the sixth season, I was done.

X-Files - This show was the first show I remember thinking was amazing. It was a revelation. However, it lost it's way after season 4 or 5. I watched it all the way until season 7 and then gave up. I will watch the show every once in a while and realize why I loved it so much.

Supernatural - The show had a lot of heart and promise. It built it up so perfectly and it should have ended as planned with season 5. After things started coming to light, you didn't know exactly how it was going to play out, but you knew that the conclusion was going to be epic. It became really popular, so it kind of had to go further, but I felt it would have been a really great and complete show after 5 seasons.

How I Met Your Mother - I just started re-watching this show from the beginning and I am having a great time watching it. I did not like the way the show tailed off and how it ended, but it was a great ride for a long way.

    Spartacus - RIP Andy Whitfield.

Entourage - Hated the last season and it's really unfortunate that it ended that way, but another show that had a great run and I have a great time watching seasons 1 to 7. I don't know if I should be psyched for the movie or not.

The shows below are simply awesome. Just something you don't really need a lot of past knowledge to appreciate. You can watch any one episode and it would be totally worth your time. Good picks.

    3. Justice League Unlimited: Best. Superhero. Cartoon. Ever (it helped being the successor to both Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series).
    4. MXC: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge: When I was having a bad day, this silly show made it better.

Buffy and Angel were another two excellent shows, Buffy was a slow start but after the Angelus story first kicked off midway through season 2 the show just seemed to get better and better.
I'll also admit to being a fan or Roswell.

Much older show- and although it doesn't hold up well now, I loved the Incredible Hulk, the show hasn't aged well but the music still stands the test of time as perhaps the greatest tv music ever written.
