Default WONDER WOMAN: EARTH ONE Cover First Look

    http://www.newsarama.com/26029-wonde...irst-look.html

this is some weird choice for a cover, very marstonish bondage reminder

From the masterful minds of Grant Morrison (FINAL CRISIS, THE MULTIVERSITY) and Yanick Paquette (SWAMP THING, BATMAN, INC.) comes the most provocative origin of Wonder Woman you’ve ever seen — a wholly unique retelling that still honors her origins.
For millennia, the Amazons of Paradise Island have created a thriving society away from the blight of man. One resident, however, is not satisfied with this secluded life — Diana, Princess of the Amazons, knows there is more in this world and wants to explore, only to be frustrated by her protective mother, Hippolyta. Diana finds her escape when Air Force pilot Steve Trevor, the first man she has ever seen, crashes onto their shores. With his life hanging in the balance, Diana ventures into the long forbidden world of men. The Amazons chase after her and bring her back to Paradise Island in chains to face trial for breaking their oldest law…staying separated from the world that wronged them.

Thought provoking yet reverent, thoroughly modern but still timeless, the power and courage of Paradise Island’s greatest champion — Wonder Woman — is introduced in this new addition to DC’s New York Times best selling Earth One original graphic novel series.

Is that Donna Troy in the lower left corner? And Cassie Sandsmark above her?

"Loving Submission" and bondage remain provocative topics in 2015. I wonder how this cover is going to go over....

Can't wait for this. All the Earth One books from DC so far have been amazing. They've done Batman. They've done Superman. Adding Wonder Woman to the mix will complete the trifecta. And I think Grant Morrison is among the most qualified to tell that story. If he can do for Wonder Woman what he did in All-Star Superman, I think this will be something special.

Welp, going for the bondage right off the bat then.

Funny actually, I was just looking at the book listed for pre-order earlier today and noticed "oh yeah, no cover yet"...

The PC Police will have a field day with this. Oh the time that will be wasted.

I have never read WW ever, so I can read this with fresh eyes. I can't say that about the umpteen Batman and Superman origins I've seen and read. Add Morrison, and I will read this in time.

Invisible Vagina Plane. Oh Joy. When it's released as a toy, I wonder if the Clitoris assessory costs extra. Next up the Lasso of truth shaped like Fallopian tubes.

Very excited, but, also, very nervous. Still can't help but feel like the Amazons are the wrong ones to put her on trial. Should be interesting.

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

looks like them, but would be strange if they were in the book given the storyline takes place before Diana went off to man's world and met them.

After 3 for Superman and 2 for Batman, DC Comics is finally producing a book for Wonder Woman in their prestige line of Earth One graphic novels. So the iconic cover image that will be seen in stores everywhere is of Wonder Woman (1) tied up in chains (2) in a powerless sex-kitten pose (3) giving that disengaged blank state that they teach to female porn stars so that men can more easily objectify them. This is 2015? Ridiculous.

Like last year's Joker-has-Batgirl-tied-up-and-crying cover, it's not the content per se, but the total disregard for the integrity of their female characters that is so problematic. I could easily see a defiant Wonder Woman struggling against chains as a great cover for this book. But 50 Shades of Grey Wonder Woman? No thanks.
