    Default Anne Bonnie #2 Preview

This series needs more love. Anne Bonnie is the all ages re-imagining of Anne Bonny the Irish woman who became a famous pirate of the Caribbean. If you're a fan of pirates and adventure in the high seas, this one is for you. The first issue was great fun and Tim Yates pencils and colors are just gorgeous. Check it out!

    Hiya,

mostly responding here in anticipation of issue 2-- really enjoyed the first issue (now many weeks past; quarterly shipping schedule?) and hoping for more this coming week. I think Rat Queen fans might enjoy this, too: strong, well-defined lead woman character in a believable fantasy setting with a good bit of interpersonal conflict developing, maybe even a touch of the ol' rich v. poor politics in the offing as well. Here's to a second issue coming soon!

Issue 2 was really great. Felt like I was reading Princess Ugg, really fun comic with a very strong and likeable female lead. I'm really enamored by Tim Yates art and colors, every page was just beautiful. Got introduced to some interesting new characters this issue as Ariana begins recruiting her new crew and setting off for adventure. I'm aboard for the long haul, I'm really loving it. Hopes this title takes off, but with Matt Levin and I both loving it, it might spell certain doom for it's longevity LOL

this one didn't grab me as much as the first, all too often the case with a second issue. Still wonderful artwork and terrific coloring, but somewhat more scattershot than the opening issue, set-up for what's to follow rather than of substance and depth itself. did really enjoy the bow-spirit's control of the ship, and her expressions doing so--facial expression continues to be a BIG strength of the artwork. wish Ariana was more aware that the ship is the entity saving them over and over again, rather than much of Ariana's doing. hoping this'll become a focal point in the story soon and be resolved, as it makes the Ariana I really enjoyed reading about last issue more irritating than anything, this issue.

and I'll add that I actually am glad for titles like this, which I enjoy greatly, which publish often only quarterly: this gives me a chance to try several new titles with the $$ I don't spend on any one title month after month. perhaps I should be mentioning this title over on a red sonja or tomb raider board.... hmmmm.
