• First, the bed. Bloodstained sheets. But still neat. Blankets unruffled. Small imprint from where Superman had slept on the left, but the right is undisturbed. Then, it's the living room. Dried blood soaked in carpet. He takes a few fibers to test. Blood splatter on wall. He knows this wasn't done with heat vision...if that were the case, the victim would have been vaporized instantly, with not a trace to be found.
• Moving back to the hallway. Sliding the lenses into place, his eyes can now see what forensic scientists can't. Small thumb & forefinger imprint on the bedroom door. No print. Possibly Clark's, but not likely. On the floor...a small white fleck of...skin? Paper? Something else? Impossible to tell. He collects it, to process later. How did someone not only enter the apartment, but also his room, without being noticed? Batman checks the time, and silently curses to himself.

Fatal Attractions Part 3: Resistance is Futile
More patrols show up, chasing Gar El and Renee Montoya off the beach and into the jungle. With Gar still not able to fly, they take off running on foot. Mere feet into the jungle, Montoya trips and falls and the soldiers quickly catch up to her. She screams at Gar to leave her, who reluctantly does so and The Dictator’s soldiers take her into custody.

Damage and Maria reach the HQ of the Resistance. After the capture of Pennyworth, the Resistance is led by a man known only as Midnighter. Midnighter recognizes Damage as the only person ever to escape the Arena and believes that with Damage back, they have the firepower to take down the Arena and the Dictator once and for all. Together with Green Arrow (Oliver Queen Jr.), the Crimson Avenger (Lee Travis), Vigilante (unknown), and Hour-Man, they plan their attack. And Maria will be the bait.

"The Death of Clark Kent": Part One

Superman went quietly with Green Lantern & the SCU squad. More confused than anything, he now sits in a t-shirt & a pair of shorts in the interview room at SCU headquarters. Hal Jordan enters, carrying a file folder. Inside are lab reports and witness testimonies. The preliminary lab reports have identified the blood & singed hair samples as belonging to Clark Kent! Witnesses saw Clark leave Lois at the Lemaris, and Superman was not seen all night after dropping Blackout off at the precinct. Jordan, having known Superman is Clark Kent for years, knows how preposterous this all is. He explains that the Guardians don't care, and the fact that Earth is accusing a superbeing of murdering a non-superbeing means that it must be investigated. Superman agrees to be led to a cell until he can sort this out. He still has that headache, though...

Mayor Luthor, having received the news of Superman's arrest, goes on WGBS to pledge his office's full support in getting to the bottom of the matter. He informs the media that he's being told that the Man of Steel allegedly followed Clark Kent home, entered his apartment, and vaporized him with his heat vision. The theory is supported by blood splatters and hair left at the scene. Luthor confirms that forensics are still testing, but all indications are that the blood belongs to Kent. When asked if Superman has an alibi, Luthor refuses to answer the question. A reporter asks him if the motive has anything to do with Clark Kent dating Lois Lane, and Lionel excuses himself & exits the briefing room.

Lois visits Superman at the SCU. She urges him to reveal his secret to the world, because without Clark present there is no way to prove Superman's innocence. He tells her he can't do that, for her safety and for others, and that even though the blood can't be his, it must belong to someone. He explains his headache before being led away by Jordan.

At Luthorcorp, Lex watches the media storm on television. He sees the banner read "SUPERMAN: MURDERER?" and smiles...

• In Smallville, The Kents are sitting down to eat lunch at the farm. They hear a knock at the door, so Jonathan excuses himself to answer it.

• Clark faces Faora, making it clear that he must find Zod. She tells him that she can't help him, as she is honor-bound and duty-bound to follow her General. Clark pleads with her, reminding her of the night they spent together at the barn. Tears rolling down her eyes, she quietly says "Home, Kal...go home." Clark's eyes widen, and he speeds away, faster than ever, towards Smallville.

• As he aporoaches Kansas, Clark's life flashes before his eyes: his first nightmare, and how Ma picked him up from his crib to comfort him. His first fishing trip when Pa taught him how to bait a hook. Prom, when he and Lana stood for what felt like forever as Pa beamed at his son & Ma kept snapping pictures to "get just the right one for the scrapbook." The excitement in their eyes when he told them of Krypton.

• He breaks down the back door when he runs into it, going too fast to stop quickly. He yells for them, but receives no response. He turns the corner into the living room...and the strongest man on the planet is brought to his knees in anguish. Zod stands in the middle of the room, surrounded by what's left of the Kents. He smiles. "Now we're even."

The job has fallen to the next person in line: Amanda Waller. President Waller wants to be sure this never happens again.
