Oh, Thor's definitely been in a deep depression since "Gorr was right" or whatever.
But I think Aaron was writing him in a Hercules-like vein before that happened. It's just become more obvious the last couple years.
When (not *if* but when) Thor either becomes worthy again, or finally realizes that he doesn't need a magic hammer to define his value, I'm hopeful that we'll see him act more like a Thor should. And if that doesn't happen with Aaron it'll happen with the next creative team.

Unless Aaron successfully replaces him with Jane. Which is what I believe Aaron is hanging around for.
He's probably waiting to see if Hemsworth's Thor is being killed off in Avengers4 so he can blame it on "synergy".

I just finished reading Thor: Heaven and Earth and I found that it handled some of the themes of Aaron's run with a little more nuance and care and without such a massive change in Thor's characterization, which I appreciated.

Now that they're so similar in character it seems unlikely. Hercules & Slightly Grumpy Hercules doesn't offer a particularly compelling dynamic, imo.

Yeah... When I posted the pic of cap carrying Thor and the both of them running away from hulk, JKtheMac said I was taking things out of context. Originally Posted by GodThor
Now the preview shows that Hulk took down Thor with a single punch. Thor is running away after a punch. It's worse in context, wasn't even a full blown battle between them.
Thor who stood and fought sky father's and Hell lords that dwarfed him in power, who stood and fought celestials who were so far above him in power, will now runaway from hulk after a punch because "he might be a god or devil".
The Thor I know would run from Neither.
