P.S. Oh what the... I have nothing better to do this evening.
Thor #337 One of the most famous Thor comics ever: Who is that right on the spot when a horse faced alien finds an odd looking stick?

Thor #341 Just back from Asgard feeling a little disorientated after being disconnected from Donald Blake Thor goes looking for somebody that will understand his situation. He wants an identity, and that is Nick's speciality.
    Attachment 45713

All this in an era when SHIELD was being promoted as a cornerstone of the MU and Fury could call on the Avengers at a moment's notice, almost as their superhero troops.

The context from this period plus the revelations from the watcher, put Fury in a unique position.

When it comes down to it this is all just theory, but think about the whole history of Thor and how few quiet chatty moments he has had with non-asgardians. A few Avengers maybe, Jane, a couple of other girlfriends, not many. He is an action hero primarily. How many people from earth really know him well? Tony, Jane, I am running low, can anyone else name somebody that knows him well as Thor?

Simonson could certainly draw Fury don't you think?
No! I've never been a fan of Simonsons 'sketchy' art. I actually preferred the Buscema-like style that he used during his first brief stint as artist on Thor's book in the 70s

Also I still don't think 2 brief scenes with Fury in what basically was the same story arc back in the 80s,does not constitute making him one of Thor's closest friends or confidants but thats just me.

Well my point was more that Thor has very few confidants on earth, and even fewer that have any background knowledge. We will have to wait and see what happens, but Fury is in the story and I think he was chosen for the whisper for more than just Original Sin reasons. To be honest I dislike Original Sin, I really don't want that to be the sole reason, so I may be biased.

I have been betting on the Simonson connection since day one, before Stormbreaker was even back in the frame. All the pieces are in place now.

P.S. The whole point of Original Sin was to allow new perspectives on early continuity. Presumably whatever Fury said has something to do with the basic premise of Thor as a comic. This is why I think Dr Blake is in the frame, and why I initially started to think in terms of Mjolnir and Fury. Thor effectively debriefed with Fury once Blake was separated from Thor by Odin. It would make sense from a storytelling perspective if the revelation was related to this.

Personally I think you are looking too much into any possible connections between Original Sin and a story arc written by another writer about 30 odd years ago. I thought that the whole point of Original Sin was essentially to have Nick Fury replace the Watcher at the end of it so Fury could step aside as Nick Fury, agent of Shield and leave that role for his son who, I'm sure by sheer coincidence, is a dead ringer for the MCU/Ultimate Nick Fury that most new readers/moviegoers are now familiar with. It just so happens that the writer of OS, Jason Aaron, was also writing Thor and was planning to have Jane Foster replace Thor as the main character in that book. It was probably just so convenient to use the events in OS that he was writing, to set in motion what he had planned for Thor and that was all that there was to it all. That's my take on it all, anyway.

Why? What happens then? Is Fury going to show up?

Are you not reading Unworthy Thor? He was in it from the start. And in the last issue we get to know what he whispered.

No! I only want to read WORTHY Thor and I'm not referring to Jane Foster.

He he. Well when it comes out I am sure we will all be discussing it in minute detail and either exclaiming we were right or trying to get are heads around the new direction we didn't predict. You can catch up from the synopsis.

You can surely understand that given very early on I was predicting the key was the first Simonson arc and the way he dealt with Blake, that seeing Fury and then Beta-Ray Bill turn up at least gave me a glimmer of hope that I was on the right track with my theories. If I am wrong, well it wont be the first time.

I would just like to see these costumes with proper lighting and colour grading. Magazines and promotional photo shoots really kill costumes and makeup.

So I guess Thor current look is been influenced by what is going to be shown in the upcoming movie ..... or maybe it's the another way around?

Let's hope Thor doesn't lose his arm in the movie as well.
