I can't get hold of Heart of Darkness either but I'm wondering what it's like compared to A Touch of Typhoid?

In what way do you mean? If you mean the type of stories, they are both Ann Nocenti which means some interesting stuff ranging from liberal to religious themes and dialogues. Some gritty streetwise action to bizarre Ultron and Mephisto strangeness. The art has John Romita Jr at his best thanks to Al Williamson's inking. Some rate Nocenti highly, whereas others dislike her Daredevil work. Definitely interesting stuff with a couple of high points but overall I'm not a fan. The Heart of Darkness Epic also has the Lifeform crossover which includes the Hulk, Punisher and Silver Surfer annuals, and actually isn't bad at all.

Your reply is exactly the sort of answer I was after! Thanks Raffi. I'm slowly building up my Daredevil collection but with cost/space to consider, I don't want to try to get a "hard to find" epic that isn't well regarded in any way by anyone.

Default Marvel Collected Editions Sales - December 2019

The complete estimated comic book sales figures for December 2019 are in (please note this list only details those comics sold to North American Comics Shops as reported by Diamond). I’ve listed below the Marvel OHC/Omnibus/MMW’s as well as the larger TPB collections such as the Epic and Complete lines that made the list, detailing the position, title and estimated sales. I haven’t included any reentries.

    1. House of X/Powers of X OHC - 10,671
    4. Silver Surfer Black Treasury Edition - 2,877
    13. Annihilation Omnibus (2nd Printing) - 1,616
    28. Marvel Masterworks: The Fantastic Four Vol. 21 HC - 1,137
    46. Avengers Epic Collection Vol. 24: The Gatherers Strike - 987
    50. Loki: Agent of Asgard – The Complete Collection - 914
    51. X-Force Epic Collection Vol. 2: X-Cutioner’s Song - 910
    53. X-Men: Shattershot OHC - 897
    64. Defenders Epic Collection Vol. 11: The End of All Songs - 822
    66. Tigra: The Complete Collection - 821
    95. X-Men Milestones: Phalanx Covenant TPB - 650
    100. X-Men: Reload by Chris Claremont Vol. 2 - House of M TPB - 607
    104. Ditko Is… Amazing! King-Size HC - 579
    147. Avengers vs. Fantastic Four TPB - 432
    260. Marvel Visionaries John Romita Jr TPB - 263

Interesting to note that the 2nd printing of the Annihilation Omnibus surpassed the number of units sold by the 1st printing in its initial month of release. This may repeat itself with the the 2nd printing of the Daredevil Bendis Vol. 1 Omnibus in January 2020.

In light of recent statements by Dido at DC we see Fantastic Four MMW vol. 21 selling 1,100+ units in the first month. We all know hundreds more will eventually move is not more. Never mind Amazing Spider-man Omni vol.4 numbers!
Meanwhile Dido is saying "high volume numbers hinder sells".

Again, with the next Thor movie being Jane centric, this seems like a no brainer.

My guess would be they'd want the "God of Thunder" stuff completed so they could put out the first "Jane as Thor" omnibus when the movie comes out. Which means, if I'm right, the 'God of Thunder' omni will come sooner vs. later. And then they would push out the rest of the Aaron run afterwards. So IF they decide to omnibus his entire run, then at some point they'll get to War of the Realms. Whether it's the main Thor series and the purely essential tie-ins, or whether it's more of an 'event' omnibus with ALL the tie-ins, that remains to be seen.

The only hole in my ideas above would be if they're in such a rush to get Jane/Thor out in omni form for the movie, that they skip the entire God of thunder series in omnibus entirely. Which would be a huge shame. And it does get called upon/referenced to later on, so I would think it would be included. But again, you just never know.

As an aside, I really liked the War of the Realms, as an event, and a lot of the tie-ins were really good. My fave tie-in was the one with all the Giant-Man guys in it.
    Thanks, I appreciate it

I managed to buy both Vol. 2's new at around 80% RRP. A couple of years later I picked up Brubaker Vol. 1 for around 60% RRP from the amazon.co.uk marketplace in perfect nick (a couple of years before the reprints materialised). Bendis Vol. 1 I only recently picked up as the second printing. In the meantime, I did pick up an OHC, Ultimate and smaller TPB which I need to offload. My point is, however, that if you decide to not pick up the available Daredevil Epics, one or two of them may go OOP when Heart of Darkness gets a reprint or you see it at a reasonable price. It all depends on how bad you want to collect Daredevil.
That's what I do too. If you don't get them now, then the others will be OOP when you go back and try to get them.

That is a massive number for House of X. 10k. Wow. Don't see that too often.

Hey all I have a quick question, what would be the best way to collect Ultimate Spider-Man? I am getting the Miles omni reprint but the Peter Parker stuff is so annoying to collect. Half of the trades and ohcs are oop as well as the omni which never received a volume 2..
None of you seem to understand, I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me..

I found big lots of the trades on eBay. That ended up being the most practical way for me coming in late to the game. It's annoying, of course, but with a little patience I got 1-150 in tpb for about $190.

Dammit, I'm mad - your logical, well-reasoned response is too rational for me!

I just hate buying books to put them on the shelf, hoping I can complete a satisfying run "someday". But l should start picking away at them now as you said.

On the other hand, waiting until every book of a long run is collected and hoping it all stays in print before you buy any volume is a great way to save money

    I miss being a kid
    Seeing a comic book on
    The rack and after flipping
    Through it deciding I want
    To buy it
    Never considering and worrying
About not having read the issues
Before it or if there would be another
Issue in the future ....... just wanting
    To read that particular book
Because I found it peaked my interest.

Yeah that guy at DC was trying to justify the unjustifiable. Of course DC doesn’t sell many high number volume collections... they don’t print them! Apparently 2 is a high number because Animal Man deluxe number 2 has been AWOL for almost a year and a half.

And if they do print them then maybe they don’t sell well because of the videos people post of their copies literally falling apart like 10,000 year old ancient scrolls on the first read through!

Or because the pages are glued together worse than the pages of some 6th grade kids first porno mag.

It's a toughie but you don't want to regret not buying them when they steadily start going OOP. The remainder seem to be all in stock on IST and CGN but some of them are already out of stock on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk such as Vol 3 and Brother take my Hand, Vol. 18 Fall From Grace.

Btw, Daredevil Waid Ombibus Vol. 2 is out of stock on both amazons and Vol. 1 on amazon.com.
