I dug this article up from 2013 that says Marvel and Gary Friedrich came to a settlement. However, the details of the settlement were not made public nor has the settlement been finalized.
I don't see any articles post-2013 so did this lawsuit get finalized?Marvel Comics and writer Gary Friedrich have agreed to a settlement to their long-standing legal dispute over ownership of Ghost Rider, as reported Monday by Reuters. If finalized, the settlement will mark the end more than six years of litigation between the two parties.
Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed, but according to Reuters, Friedrich’s lawyer, Charles Kramer, said the writer and Marvel “have amicably agreed to resolve all claims between, among, and against all parties.”
Could details of the settlement be what is preventing us from getting collected editions, in any format, of '73 Blaze Ghost Rider? I could believe that the settlement details include Mr. Friedrich getting 'x' percentage kickback from the sale of any collected GR material. Therefore Marvel out of spite just will not print any. Basically waiting it out till he dies. I'd wager his 'estate' doesn't get any kickback cause if it did playing the waiting game wouldn't make sense.
However, I'm just speculating.
