Hands down I'd give them Amazing Spider-man #1 by Lee/Kirby. It is Peter in his authenticity. For sure not Byrne or Bendis. The Bendis Peter is not true enough he is too "hip" and together. Not Peter.

Does UU Peter really seem more "together" to you, like as a person? He's still an outsider nerd that hotties (MJ, Gwen, Kitty) flock to because of his personality, he still fights for the little guy and never wins-wins himself... insecure, guilt-ridden, etc.

Authentic isn't my choice, that is what the company has decided. There is a reason that the roots, personalities and look of the characters derive from the 616 and not UU.
Having splashes of Modern or even UU is a nice nod in places but Marvel Entertainment knows what made the characters popular on a wide scale.

Not saying Feige doesn't know what the roots are. MCU is definitely a mix of both classic + vibes from UU.

Folks here who are parents, do you give your kids the comics you liked as a kid only? Are you perhaps biasing them against other versions because that's not what their parents (you) like? Has anyone started their kids (or just even older friends who were curious about comics after watching the movies) on something from the last 20 years instead, and they hated it, and then you gave them 1960s stuff and they were like yeah that's more our jam? Just curious. Not questioning anyone's parenting skills, natch.
