There was a HC in 2009 and a trade paperwork from 2011 that reprinted these stories. Unfortunately it featured modern recolouring that was pretty awful. It was during that period when a lot of books were being recoloured in a way that ignored the original artist's intent and linework, creating light sources that didn't match up with the artwork.

The stories are also reprinted in the Thor Epic Collection volumes

Thank you that was very helpful, it would be great if they got the omnibus treatment.

    Default Defenders epic collectios

aha the total run of the original series been collected in the Epic
format? I’ve been searching and from what I can tell, there is a large chunk of the original run not in that format.

    Just trying to find out.

You are correct. Defenders is not complete in Epic format at this time. However, the recently released MMW v8 matches up exactly with the start of the consecutive Epic volumes that collect the end of the series. By combining formats, the whole original series has now been collected, but neither MMW nor Epic is complete on its own.

Missed it at the time, but I'm kinda excited for Fraction's Thor Omni that just came out.

I wonder if Defenders Omnibus Vol 1 sold well... I really wish for a Volume 2 with Steve Gerber's run

I got it from instocktrades heavy discounted (65% off I think) so that does not bode well.

Same here... I only bought volume 1 in the hopes that later volumes would follow. Those first 30 issues are a slog, in my opinion, but the series really picks up steam right thereafter, from what I recall. And I always love Gerber's crazy worlds he develops!

I have no idea of the sales figures for Defenders volume 1, but part of me wonders if its being the first volume with the new spine designs, complete with tiny lettering, may have hurt it. Yes, now everyone’s kind of adjusted to them and reluctantly accepted we can’t do anything about them. But being the first one to roll out the new design, with no indication of whether it was the new norm or what, may have hurt the Defenders. Who knows.

This was a really weak group of Epics as far as my collection goes. Just getting ST: Menace Revealed (which has been solicited for over a year now and keeps getting moved) and the Iron Man: Doom reprint. I'm happy for those that are happy with these, of course, but just not a lot for me to be excited about.

Glad to see them continuing West Coast Avengers (sorry, Avengers West Coast). I enjoy the Roy Thomas run and there are a few issues that haven't been collected yet (in this one, 76-79 and the backup stories from the Annual; volume 7 should take care of the rest).

The 23rd ASM Epic bridges another uncollected gap for the title. Marvel is closer to releasing the entire run in collected editions.

Surely they will do a volume two test the idea that the better material follows and is more in demand.
Still.....look how long it is taking to get Incredible Hulk Silver Age volume two, so it may be long term afterall. *cry emoji*
