the hc is only one story while this new tpb collects various stories where Frank kills tons of Marvel characters.

    Hi (My Name),

very sorry the USPS was not able to deliver the book to you in the same condition it went out in. If you'd like, you can return the book for a refund to:

    Pulp Fiction
    1742 Clark Ave.
    Long Beach, CA 90815

We highly recommend using USPS MEDIA MAIL as this will be the most inexpensive option by far. Please make sure to include a printout of this conversation or a short note with your information, the problem, and, most importantly, your order ID #. Please ensure that the book arrives back to us within 60 days or we will not be able to process the refund.

    yours,
    Max

    Now:

    A. They're saying that they aren't responsible to their own product being damaged

    B. They want me to pay return shipping, on top of the already stupidly expensive 8 dollars shipping they charged me.

    C. I live on the East Coast, so the book will have to travel back across the entire country again before I get my refund.

And even with this, its only a refund of the sale price I paid; on the site now, the book is over 60 bucks, meaning I'm loosing money over their incompetent shipping. Ad that's if the book is even in print by the time I get paid back. Am I the only one who thinks this is insane?

And, by the way, this is my first order with them, as I specifically said in the message. This is how they bring in customers?

There's almost nothing more retailers hate more or are scared of more than that threat. However, I believe CGN "banned" someone on these forums who pushed back on them in the past. They generally start acting immature and unprofessional when customers demand a higher level of service from them, based on their responses that have been copied and pasted here before. So if you don't mind supposedly never being allowed to purchase from them again, then go ahead and push back. It might also help to take pictures of the packaging and the condition of the book so you can have proof for them and for your credit card company.

    I recommend instocktrades.

I'm surprised about all the hate for CGN. I place a large order from them about once a month on average. (I live in Tennessee so I rarely use IST. Since the company moved to Memphis a year or so ago, I'm on the hook for a 9 percent sales tax here. The governor pushed through an internet sales tax, which almost forced Amazon to leave here, but I digress.)

Anyway, I've had a few problems with CGN but based on the amount of books I've ordered over the years the percentage is quite low overall.

I've found Max to be extremely polite and over the years he's even come on here to answer questions.

If you ask CGN will refund your shipping. Just ask. They'll do.

In fact, they've even sent me a paid postage that I downloaded and printed out. They've also given me the option of a $8-$10 discount code.

The online discounts from bn.com are amazing.

I got Hickman's Secret Warriors Complete Collections Volume 1 and 2 (34.99 each in store) at 28% - 32% off

    PLUS Free Shipping

I placed my order on 1-31 and both arrived (undamaged) to my door on 2-3
The discounts from BN.Com aren't amazing. Do the basic math. You likely could have saved money ordering from IST.

Using your Secret Warriors example, he should buy them from IST because he could get them 42% off right now. That puts him about ~$9.50 short of free shipping from IST, so he could either grab another book or pay the $4 standard shipping cost. Even if he pays the $4 for shipping, his total (assuming no tax, unless he's in one of the two states IST is in) is $44.58. If he buys it from B&N with a 32% discount, basic math puts him paying $47.59, assuming he gets that 32% off discount on both books. (The actual price he's paying is $48.99 pre-tax from B&N right now since one is 32% off and the other is only 28%). And chances are he's going to have to pay sales tax on top of that seeing how B&N is in most states. IST wins even if he has to pay shipping costs.

If he were to buy the books from IST with the extra 2% discount, then he saves that much more. Or he could wait until they run Marvel books at 45% off. In basically every scenario, B&N loses on price.

And if shipping speed is a concern, most IST orders are filled and delivered within a week from purchase. If you need it faster, the upgrade to FedEx isn't much more. You would probably still come close to breaking even with B&N's price. But it's not like B&N offers expedient shipping. From my experience, they tend to use the UPS Mail Innovations where UPS gets the package to a USPS hub, then USPS completes the delivery. That's usually just as slow as USPS Media Mail. Amazon has the books for the same exact price as B&N, so if you're a Prime member and you want to spend that extra money (and likely sales tax), you can have the books even faster than B&N will get them to you.

And from my experience B&N uses crappy packaging compared to the amazing IST packaging. I've had books arrive in less than new condition from B&N almost as often as they've come as they should. Never had a damaged book due to IST's packaging.

On a non-retail topic, has anyone seen a comparison between the Powers Omnibus and the first three OHCs of Powers? Did the Omnibus collect all of the same extras from all three OHCs, or did they leave any extras out of the Omnibus?

No, they won't. They'll tell you it's not their fault and to "just deal with it". Then, if you push it further, they'll have their brilliant IT specialist ban your IP from accessing their website.

They have a bad reputation because they have earned a bad reputation.

This conversation could probably be shifted over to the thread linked above, since it's started to stray a bit off topic.

They've always been good to me.

Back on topic: I now officially have no backlogue and I'm currently waiting on a large order to arrive. I can't remember what it includes, but I know there's Black Science, Avengers OHC 3 and DD OHC 4.

As a paid Barnes and Noble member, I can say with genuine, qualified knowledge NEVER BUY A SINGEL TBING FROM THEM! Their packaging is atrocious, there shipping takes twice as long as they promise, including express shipping, their items almost always strive damaged, and you can always find better prices at otehr sites, mainly IST. I can seriously think of 4 different orders I've had to return to them because they came severely damaged. And I'm a paid member.

I fail to see if humor of it. It seems sad and almost pitiful if anything.

Sorry, don't take offense. I said it was a dick thing to do. The line about how they wanted you to let them know if the site wasn't completely blocked to you cracked me up.

I don't get why they were dicks. I certainly believe you, but they've treated me nicely. If they did that to me, I wouldn't ever buy from them again, though. That's assured.

No worries; sorry if my reply seemed curt.

Back on topic, reading through Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers run in OHC. What is the general consensus on his Avengers work?
