I seriously can't wait for Hickman's run and Aaron's Thor to be omnibized.
Last week I wrapped up Times Runs Out, which I thought was so-so (except for the awesomeness of the Thor-Hyperior team-up) and then Secret Wars, which quite frankly surprised me. I thought it was pretty damn good. I started reading it at the time in floppies, but stopped since I didn't know a lot of the back history leading into it. I really enjoyed it.

I did read the SW Old Man Logan mini when it came out, so I got a kick out of one of the lines when Strange tells Doom there's been a citing of a guy crossing the borders but we don't have much evidence. I liked the inside baseball to it. There is probably a lot more but other than OML and the Maestro mini that's all I read of the SW spin-offs that I recall.

The two God of Thunder OHC's are really nice, if you don't want to wait. I'm sure the whole Mighty run will be collected I'm the same.
    Cyclops was right

Disregarding the price vs page count debate is the Dr. Strange Omni worth picking up? I've never really read any Dr. Strange stuff before and while I know it generally considered some pretty classic material I'm thinking of just waiting and picking the same material when it is inevitably collected in an Epic. That way I'll have everything in a uniform format instead of one Omni and a bunch of Epics.

I haven't read Dr. Strange, aside from the issues that has been included in my other collections (pretty good), but from what I've been able to gather it is arguably the third best run of the classic 60s marvel only to be bested by Fantastic 4 and Spiderman.

I think it comes down to whether you like Stan Lee and Ditko. I doubt that Dr. Strange will magically make you like 60s marvel, if you don't already..pun intended .

It's definitely the most celebrated run on the character. And like the previous user said, it's considered a silver age masterpiece. (Mostly because of Ditko's art).

So taking recent solicitations into account...has the entire Nova series now been collected in OHC?

well, to contradict an opinion above, it made me like SA stuff. Ditko's art was a big part in it but I honestly had a lot of fun with it. So far I like it more than FF (need t get to the real meat of the FF though).

Volume 1. Wish they would've just combined the two into one big reprint, but ah well. I'll probably pick up both of them.

Did you read it before Spiderman? I was under the assumption most people who had read Marvel silver age had read some of Amazing Spiderman. You get Ditko's famous art there.

no, I have ASM v1 omnibus but haven't read it yet. This was my introduction to the Lee Silver age so maybe it had some novelty for me but I genuinely enjoyed it (read Ditko's Creeper before this but that was quite different).

If you like the books, buy 'em. If you don't, don't. No one is holding a weapon to your head telling you to buy comic books. It's silly the way these folks sound off on message boards.
Fair enough. Though the initial complaint was mine, I retract it. And frankly they did allow for other options (the TPBs don't have this issue).

In my opinion, a big NO! I got the MMW 75th anniversary box set a few years ago and Dr Strange was the one book I couldn't finish. Weird stuff. Very weird. And not in a good way. It was bad silver age comics.

Normally I don't buy enough collected editions at once to merit posting a picture of a haul, but I wanted to share this one.

    image.jpg

This was all within the past month. The Mass Effect books from a book warehouse near Niagara Falls; the Rise of Apocalypse book from Amazon; the two New X-Men, the Hunt for Professor X, and the two Ms. Marvel books from Indigo; the X-Men Epic Collection and the two Wolverine books from a book liquidation store in Toronto (20 each for the X-Men Epic and Wolverine by Rucka, and those have $45+ cover prices); and the X-23 Complete Collection (which was released today) from my LCS.
