So after everyone here talking so highly about superior Foes I finally got around to getting it. A little predictable in the lovable losers sort of way but funny as hell and highly recommended. New found respect for Boomerang, too.

yeah I got it because of all the praise and one of my pals just DIDN'T FREKKIN' STOP TALKING ABOUT IT! Seriously...that guy...
when I started reading it I have my arms crossed, saying "right...impress me" and after the first few issues I thought it's not that great but by the end it won me over and absolutely loved it.

Dammit, looks like I'll have to buy it too.
Can it be read as a stand alone series?

yes, absolutely. there are two isues in the end that ties into Spider-man being Doc Ock but those are not part of the overall plot.

It really can't be read any other way, the whole "of Spider-Man" thing was just a sales gimmick.

Well I broke down and bought the 3rd and 4th Jason Aaron wolverine collection so I can pick up where his omnibus left off.

So they can solicit the second omnibus any day now with my luck

I didn't like these, but let me know what you think. Lot of cliches. i.e. wolverine mind control, etc. don't want to spoil.

Kind of what I expected, honestly. But after after Scalped I figured I'd give him a real try. Plus, I don't like unfinished stories/runs.. It's the completionist in me

I'm in the same boat but will not pull the trigger on those trades. FYI I really dug these. However I wasn't looking for earth shattering storytelling, I was looking for fun and Aaron delivered IMO.

some new MArvel stuff showed up on amazon but I'm too lazy to copy everything (from the Omnibus collector's group)
the 2 main ones are the Michelinie-LArson Spidey omnibus and the Tangled web of Spider-man omnibus.
There will be LOADS more spidey trades.

Nice! Would have preferred just an Amazing-centric omnibus, but shouldn't complain about extra content.

Tangled web seems interesting. Is that like a villian focused series? I've never read any of it that I'm aware of.

That's good news, especially the Michelinie/Larsen one. I keep hoping they omni the post Stern Alien Costume Saga though. They have it in two fat tpb complete collection books that I keep holding off on for buyers fear. I figure if I cave and buy them they'll end up announcing the omni shortly after.
I've never read any of the Tangled Web stuff, it will be a wait and see one for me.

Oh, and on the Superior Foes topic, I love that book. Brilliant stuff, both writing and art.
