Personally, I think that ship has sailed to see a Vol. 2 to complete the run but many people prefer the quality of the OHCs anyways. I am sorry but I do not follow availibility questions a lot so I have no idea if it is still easy to get the Volumes. The Siege OHC might also help in terms of getting bigger chunks together, but I think this one is heavily OOP.

And last purchase for the summer: man, Summer has not even started, yet. It is an addiction ....
    Thanks my friend.

So would you say that the first volume and secret invasion are ok?

I did look at the OHCs, but they would cost more in the long-run.

If you just want the content and are not totally in the "it has to be an OHC/omnibus!" bucket, they released Bendis' entire New Avengers/Avengers/Dark Avengers/Mighty Avengers run (man, that's a lot of Avengers!) in 'complete collections' large TPBs. I have them all, and they're great. I'm sure you could pick up after omnibus 1 OR where the Secret Invasion omni leaves off with the Trades, if you don't want to hunt down those OOP OHCs from years ago. PLus they never OHC'd his Avengers run anyways. There are OHCs for the Mighty Avengers and for Dark Avengers, though.

Ideally it would only be the New Avengers run as sentimentally (wipes away virtual tears), it was my first ever Marvel comic and I loved it! I just want to run the collected run and read it all in its entirety.

The problem with counting the Secret Invasion Omnibus as a pseudo New Avengers Vol. 2 Omnibus is that it "only" contains New Avengers #31-32, 39-49, but not #33-38. Therefore, for New Avengers fans, this is a bit of a downer. New Avengers Vol. 1 Omnibus contains #1-31.

I noticed that. Why did they exclude those issues?

Well, if you want to read the NA run in its entirety, then your best bet would be these new complete collections. There's seven of them:

What is everyone's thoughts on how to continue when the titular omnibuses start crossing over with the artist/writer or major event collections? Or will they attempt to make them overlap as little as possible?

Sadly I'm not prepared to buy so many aha at those prices. But thanks. I might just get Aaron's Strange and that will be all.

Probably because this Omnibus is focused on the Skrulls and the Secret Invasion event and not the New Avengers per se. If they did include those NA issues, I would be temped to pick the Omnibus up, but I'll wait and see if it hits clearance and if the price is right.....

I let the Infinity Gauntlet and Annihilation Omni's go, and realised I prolly shouldn't have. I had the floppies and OHC, but they'll come back again pretty soon won't they? Sure feels like they should with another movie coming.

The X-Books appear to have the philosophy of putting major events/x-overs in their own omni/OHC so there is little overlap with the series collections. The two Jim Lee/Claremont omnis, for example, end before and begin after X-Tinction Agenda. Likewise, the first X-Force omni starts at the end of X-Tinction and finishes just before X-Cutioner's Song.

The Avengers books, on the other hand, are a giant f-ing mess.

If I am not mistaking you have mentioned you live in the UK?
Have you considered checking out the cheap-comics sale? They have all the complete collections for New avengers on sale. Might be worth a look for you.

I didn't realise there was an overlap between the two omnibuses (even if it's only one issue). I haven't read these stories in years so I was wondering if are there any common threads between the uncollected issues? Could they all easily slot into an Avengers: Dark Reign Omnibus that would plug all of the remaining gaps?

If I'm not mistaken, those "missing" NA issues cover The Hood as the new "kingpin" of crime. At a squeeze, they could include those issues into the SI Omnibus, whereas a possible Dark Reign Omnibus would start from NA #48 proper.

You are indeed correct. Thanks for the link. Soem good prices, but I'll settle for some Aarons Doctor Strange and Lee, and then I really will call it finito for the summer excluding the 2nd Hickman Avengers sand Doc omni.
