I prefer omnibuses over absolutes. Here is my list:

    1. Swamp Thing by Alan Moore
    2. Batman by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale (including The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Haunted Knight and maybe Catwoman When in Rome)
    3. Batman by Grant Morrison (I'm not sure how many omnibuses would be needed...)
    4. Promethea
    5. Top Ten (including the issues that weren't collected in the absolute)
    6. Seven Soldiers of Victory by Grant Morrison
    8. Ex Machina
    9. Starman
    10. Batman by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo

Yeah. These guys over here (click me). Lots of senior citizens with encyclopedic knowledge of comics and a burning hatred of anything later than 1990, heh. Okay I'm kidding. But only kind of. Still a very valuable perspective on stuff we probably don't even know we'd enjoy reading very much.

    (Good picks by the way)

Wasn't Promethea supposed to get an omnibus? I remember seeing something about a really long fold out page.

Promethea was supposed to get an Immateria edition, which was supposed to be presented in an "landscape" size. When this was first solicited I was beyond excited. It was postponed for various reasons, but appears to be in limbo at this point.

A member of a Facebook group posted this a couple days ago. He said this was a response to his inquiry of the book to J.H. Williams III.

"The plan was for this to happen when Sandman Overture was completed, because I was to do several new illustrations for it as well as some redesign aspects. This is what I was promised by the publisher, but as of right now it seems this isn't going to be upheld. I've not heard anything from them when I've asked about it. So at this point the only way I see this having a chance of happening is if it is demanded directly to the publisher by you and like minded fans through a large letter writing campaign. How this would be organized to occur is beyond me.

    Take care

Oh. That's, uh, very recent. Haha.

Interesting list! I'd buy all of them, except Hawkworld.

...I see. That is very recent. Did it not make it over to this side of the Internet? I don't recall seeing it. Being so recent, I figure I'll just stick to this forum.

    According to an Amazon review:

**Beyond the Farthest Precinct (issues 1-5)
Set 5 years after the main story. Done by Filippo and Ordway.

    **Top Ten Season Two
A season two by Cannon and Ha was started and canceled. It is 1-4 issues and Special #1.

I'm on mobile, and don't have issue #'s in front of me, but my #1 request would be:

Superman: The Man of Steel Omnibus Vol 1 (collecting around 1200 pages, every issue post-Superman vol 2#25 (Byrne's last issue). I'd love to see everything collected up until the start of the Death story (that already has an omni), then keep going & collect everything post-Return up through Superman #200. I have no clue how many omni's this would be.

I'd be fine with it being collected as they have been doing it with the MoS trades, but they are way, way too spread out. I have every issue, and have been wanting to do a custom bind, but I keep holding out for any word of continuing the current series (especially with Jurgens back on a Superman book full-time).
    "Darkseid...always hated music..."

Every post I make, it should be assumed by the reader that the following statement is attached: "It's all subjective. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you, and vice versa, and that's ok. You may have a different opinion on it, but this is mine. That's the wonderful thing about being a comics fan, it's all subjective."

I guess it was cancelled due to the trim size of the book.
If I remember correctly, the size would have been two times that of an Omnibus or Deluxe. Of course this would look beautiful, but the book would never fit into any "normal" bookshelf, so I am glad they did reconsider.

Now that it's unlikely to happen, I'm really glad I bought the first absolute last year rather than waiting for this edition.

I could have sworn that some time back - maybe a year or so - on the general omnibus thread someone posted pictures of this books, including the massive spread. I think it might have been a prototype or something.

Oh well, I'm glad I got the Absolutes.
