That Orion spine is terrible. Reminds me of the Just Imagine omni spine, but worse.

Also, as I did a few pages back, I'll chime in in support of the Johns Teen Titans omni. It definitely is divided up into two eras: before Infinite Crisis and after - so I can understand the criticism that it's disjointed. Kind of appropriate, however, considering the same can be said of NTT and CoIE. I very much enjoyed it though - especially fun if you're familiar with the Wolfman / Perez stuff. Johns' signature eye for great character moments is all throughout. Great stuff with Tim Drake, Connor Kent, and Cassie.

It's true that the Beast Boy mini is no good though.

How are the DC 75 books so far? Superman, Batman, Joker, Flash and soon Marvel will be available.

It is most excellent. Awesome, awesome Rags artwork plus some kick ass Johns stories. You know I've seen a lot of people dissing rags art but I've always enjoyed what he does. That said he certainly looked best with Michael Bair inking. Wish they would team back up.

Now to request the Gray/Palmiotti Hawkman omnibus! They pick up right where Geoff left off and don't miss a beat. A forgotten run that I would buy an omni of in a second.

Also...I wish instead of these damn tpbs we would also be getting Ostrander Suicide Squad, Martian Manhunter and the Spectre in omnibus. Suicide Squad should get one for sure considering a movie is coming soon and it's a classic run.

And thankfully the content of the Orion omnibus blows just imagine away! Spine be damned. Subtract Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko from Stan Lee and he hasn't done anything else worth a shit. Seeing him selling the multi million dollar mansion he bought for his daughter in the news made me sick. Like jack wouldn't have wanted to provide for his family like that. Sorry. Ending rant

Hawkman was a good read, and it compliments the JSA omnibuses if you have those. Teen Titans is great until Infiinite Crisis. It never really recovers after the changes brought on by that event. Towards the end it felt like Johns had lost interest. So maybe two-thirds great. But at its best, I enjoyed Teen Titans more than Hawkman.

He built an empire. Nothing wrong with that. Without him, nobody would have ever noticed Kirby or Ditko. The man deserves respect at least for that. No reason to be angry for his sucess.

it would be fair to state that it can (almost) be said the other way around, too. while kirby and ditko did some great work at other publishers, the collaboration with lee is widely regarded as the artistic peak of both. i get that lee gets bashed for having been a company man and all, but i never understood the tendency to make him look like a hack, who didn't contribute too much to the creation of all those legendary marvel characters. he definitely did, and the range of artists who reached their creative peak during the collaboration with lee is a very strong evidence.

Kinda nice, kinda repetitive....they'll collect some yet uncollected gems, but include many from existing collections. Hit and miss.

I can't even learn the contents of the Capt Marvel collection for some reason.
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

Don't forget Lois Lane and (50 years of) Teen Titans. Robin, The Spirit, JSA and Green Lantern have been announced. I think the line is OK and provides a good mix between the classics, new material and some stuff in between.

I wrote this before and want to say it again: I would have expected some more books in this line, most of all Lex Luthor (since they also did the Joker), Hawkman and Catwoman, who all had their debuts in 1040 (I would not have hoped for Dr. Fate, The Spectre, Atom, Animal Man (50 years), or other characters beyond the obvious choices, but they should at least have done Lex Luthor).

Might just be the contrarian in me, but I like the spine. I like that they don't have to be so rigid and uniform. Someone designed this and thought it looked nice and they went with it. It's different and unique to this omni, and that's cool with me.

I'm not bothered by the spine either. It's not like the DC Omni's are/have been using a uniform approach like the Marvel Omni's have.

My problem is not that it's not uniform, couldn't care less about that. It's just ugly.

I'm not sure if I like the spine or not, but I always thought Simonson had a very cool, very distinct signature/autograph. Almost like it's its own snazzy little piece of artwork.

That's what I like about it.
