Absolute fit in the kallax but aparently martini edition don't fit.
I got the new edition and the order looks okay- they have the Purity storyline together rather than spaced out as in the previous edition, so it's definitely not the same order as before.
I think what you're describing is actually a result of the fact that Fugitive is not really a crossover like, say, Knightfall, or Contagion, with specific part 1, part 2. Each individual title still had its own subplots that are resolved in the individual titles, so for example, Nightwing might be facing some bad guy at the end of one issue, but that plotline is picked up in the next issue of Nightwing which had nothing to do with Fugitive, so it's not included in the trade.
The old old trades edited each issue to only include the pages relevant to the crossover, which made that problem less apparent. Had DC done that with these, people would've gotten upset that complete issues weren't included.
But I think this new edition is a step up for including some issues that were left out of the old trades, and correcting the problems the recalled edition had. But ultimately I don't think there's really a perfect way to collect Murderer/Fugitive that would make everyone happy.
I do know one continuity goof is that in Robin 98, Alfred is shown leaving Brentwood but in Gotham Knights 25 (which is before Robin 98) he's already back in Gotham. That was how the issues originally came out, and Robin 98 had other continuity issues too, so not much they could do there I don't think. I might be mis-remembering though.
Yeah that too (the Nightwing and the badguys stuff) but I would swear that there is some continuity stuff with Tim and Dick too.
I really don't see the point including a complete issue which has a cliffhanger but not including the resolution to that cliffhanger (and to that whole storyline). Now I'm upset because I don't know how that prison fire concludes, I would rather read the edited version so I will get a more satisfying read than complete issues with a lot of loose ends.
But I know some people are completionists, but for me, it was not a great read (still, the core mystery is intriguing)

Do you have the old cut & pasted editions? That's where I first read this arc, having briefly dropped all the Bat-books during this era. I have to say it makes for a disjointed read either way; styles switching up every other page was just as annoying as the unresolved cliffhangers are in the new edition. At lease with the new books it's easier to know what single issue to seek out if you really want to. That was virtually impossible before.
And the reprint is a better bargain, page for page.
that's for sure! I've bought it for $22 which is quite nice in Europe I think. But Fugitive is at $33 on BD and I'm not sure I want to cough up that extra $10 for it.
I don't know, maybe I've expected too much because of Brubaker and Rucka. I should read it again sometime.
Nevermind.. it was already answered.
