If you mean build quality wise I would heartily disagree, I actually found that they put an alarmingly low amount of effort into their hundred bullets and dmz deluxe in particular.
Wavy pages, glued binding, and those black cardboard covers, although some of what ive seen recently may show theyre doing a slightly better job.
Anyone know what else besides fables and invisibles got a printed cover? I know that ocean/orbiter did, and I thought all of them were getting printed covers at DC but the orion came outta nowhere and killed that theory.

while I disagree with the quality, as others said DC is still unpredictable and lately the paperquality went down the toilet, they have some excellent stories.
Adding to the already mentioned ones I would say definitely get Daytripper, not a crime book, no action but it's a beautiful story.
Books of Magic and Black Orchid from Gaiman, Ronin by Frank Miller. The Filth is good but it's definitely not everybody's cup of tea, quite disturbing sometimes and hard to decipher. Like the Invisibles but condensed in 12 issues.
Not Vertigo but New Frontier is great as well, Watchmen obviously, Flex Mentallo and We3.
Death by Gaiman is really good but I think you should read Sandman first to fully appreciate it.
Not sure if anyone posted this already but Amazon has the Neil Adams Batman Omnibus up for $47.76. You can save a few bucks if you dont mind the 2 week delay and horrible packing job. Sorry if it was posted already.
The amazon solcitatin says it collecte MATERIAL from
"Batman #200, 203 and 210; The Brave and The Bold #75-76 and 79-85; Dectective Comics #370, 372, 385, 389, 391, and 392; and World's Finest Comics #174-176, 178-180, 182-183, 185, 186; Batman #217, 220-222, 224-227, 229-231, The Brave and The Bold #86, 88-90, 93, 95, Detective Comics #394-403, 405-311, World's Finest Comics #199, 200, 202; Batman #232, 234-241, 243-246, 251, 255; Batman Annual #14; Batman Black & White #4; Brave and the Bold #99, Detective Comics #412-422, 439, 600; Heroes Against Hunger; Limited Collectors Edition C-25, C-51, C-59; Robin #1; Saga of Ra's Al Ghul #4; World's Finest #211, 244-246, 258; Batman: Odyssey Vol. 1 issues #1-6 and Vol. 2 issues #1-7."
Thats a hell of alot of issues for an omni. yet it says its only 648 pages. That can't be correct, unless they arnt the whole issues. It says "material" from so that makes me wonder if were not getting whole issues here.
The Amazon solicit is partially incorrect. The page count is actually 1072 (according to Forbidden Planet) and the book collects four previous collections in one package - Batman Illustrated by Neal Adams 1-3 and Batman: Odyssey.
A lot of those older stories were shorter than the modern standard, something like a difference of 17 pages then to 24 pages now, or so. The reason it says 'material from' is because Detective Comics (and some of the other DC books) would present several stories in an issue, whereas this book only collects the Batman stories from the relevant books. So a Bagirl or Plastic Man backup from Detective Comics would be absent, hence 'material from'.

Is brightest day collected in the johns green lanterns omnis? or do i need the brightest day omni as well as those?
Its not solcitated as in being vol 3, and I doubt its going to change. I couldn't see them putting it in one omni when there is allready another omni for it. Although the reviews on amazon people have had theirs fall apart. I have yet to read mine but I have looked though it many times with no issues yet.
Brightest Day isn't really a part of Johns' Green Lantern epic apart from the issues of Green Lantern that are collected in whichever omnibus. The Brightest Day omnibus would add little/nothing to a reading of his run. BD was also pretty terrible. It started out decent, then got bad, and by the end it was basically someone slapping you in the face while stealing your wallet.
