Not a single one of my books has come up for far ... so I'm hoping for a clean sweep of the top five!

As for the Knightfall omnibus, how good a book is it? I know the story has a lot of impact but Chuck Dixon was never a highly regarded writer from what i remember (of his time at Marvel).

It's fine, but re-reading those newer TBPs recently (having only read the truncated) versions before and I found it a bit of a slog tbh. I'm sure it was different monthly but all in one go it feels longer than maybe it needs to be? Read broken up a bit then maybe it's more engaging? There's some good stuff in there though.

Hmm . . . will have to consider this one. I wouldn't mind a No Mans Land omnibus as I have the abridged trades that came out years ago but would like to read the full version.

This Knightfall omnibus fish is fantastic news, I wonder if its a sign that we'll be getting more batman "event" Omnis in the same pattern they went through for the chunky trade reprints, Knightfall -> No Mans Land -> Murderer/Fugitive -> Road to No Mans Land (ins cataclysm/contagion) -> Wargames.

And to think it didn't seem that long ago we were all sat around lamenting the thought that we would never ever get a Batman omnibus of any sort.

Drumroll, or its internet equivalent, please. Here are the final five entries into our list.

    4. Absolute Swamp Thing by Alan Moore volume 1 (TIE)
    4. Green Arrow by Mike Grell Omnibus volume 1 (TIE)
    3. Hitman Omnibus by Garth Ennis volume 1
    2. The Flash by Mark Waid Omnibus volume 1
    1. Swamp Thing by Alan Moore Omnibus

Some notes: I was pleasantly surprised to see that Absolute Swamp Thing and Hitman made the list, let alone in the top five. The Other three books were pretty obvious, I thought.

    Edit: to fix ties.

Yeah, no kidding. DC should just bring Casey back, throw out everything that's happened to Wildcats, etc. and let him just pick up from where he left off.

I was just thinking about which omnis I might spend stupid amounts of money on(125+) and the only ones o could think of were Mark Waid Flash and Claremont X-Men.

It's okay. I read the newer TPBs as they came out and really liked the first volume, but found the second to be a huge chore to get through. Most of the issues in that second volume are the same thing over and over again; Jean-Paul Valley steps over the line and no one really does anything about it except complain. The third volume gets better, but it's still not as great as the first one.

Supposedly every Rebirht special so far has been fantastic.only thing heard real mixed reviews of is GLs, which is by Sam Humphries who is known for being a pretty weak writer.

Chuck Dixson didn't really hit his stride until joining DC where he penned over 100 issues each of Robin and Nightwing. I'm not saying he's the best writer but he gave you everything he had and never phones it in. I never felt like I got ripped off buying one of his comics (you hear that Sam Humphries?????).

Knight fall had a lot of editorial interference so who can say what his true role was. The run certainly didn't suck. I will say the the return in which Bruce comes back for the mantle was excellent and still stands the test of time. There's some chilling scenes where he thinks he's ready again. He's standing on top of a building looking down, grappling hook in hand and thinking about diving. But he's not ready. Yet.
