Don't knock B&N. They have a Marvel and DC sale every year, buy two get own free I believe it is, includes online purchases. They'll charge you for the more expensive books though, but if you want to get some Omni's and free fat tpb, that's how you do it. The sale starts November until February or so. Sometimes, although rare, they do have some OoP goodies. Never hurts to look. Even if in my experience, they'll mostly have the best selling books. So be prepared to see tons and TONS of Harley Quinn, the Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, V for Vendetta and so on. Still, never hurts to look.

Local shops can't compete with the high volume online stores on new books, but I love checking them for deals on used books. About 5 months ago I snagged a near perfect copy, only the top edge of the dust jacket was crinkled a bit, of the Michelinie/McFarlane Amazing Spider-Man omni for $50. I hadn't seen one for less than $150 before that.

Definitely not knocking them. I take my mom to the mall shopping about once every other month. One of my stops is always B&N. I grab a few books and sit down and peak thru them. I've even bought a few with a 10% coupon, paying way more than online, but I just wanted to take something home with me.
I've just never been to a real bricks and mortar comic book store and I would like to do that sometime. And I would definitely buy something from there as I would feel guilty leaving empty handed.
Reliving my second childhood.... Making my TPB's take a back seat.....I'm now a new DC Omnibus and Hard Bound Book Collector: Batman: The Golden Age Omni V1 / Legends of the Dark Knight: Jim Aparo Vol. 2 / Gotham Central Omni / Justice League of America Silver Age Omni's V1 & V2 / Superman: The Golden Age Omni V1/ Green Lantern Omni V1

So do you know when IST runs their DC sales? Is it a certain time of month or certain times of year?
They will for sure have some sales from Black Friday till end of the calendar year. Outside that I just check in weekly at the site.

My wishlist now only contains upcoming books and there are about 20 on there from now till March. However, we are house shopping so I expect to get back logged on my buys but use that time to catch up on reading.

That's another book I sacrificed, but I like the place and want to do what I can. Plus, there's no better feeling than walking out with some books from a comic shop. Much better than opening a box in the mail.
Yeah, I'm pretty selfish with my wallet. I have a couple of tpbs I get from my LCS (the Hellblazer reprints for example) but almost all my other collections I go to CGN or IST. I deviated this week because I wanted something to read and figured what the hell.

My guy does have some great 50 percent off sales for Black Friday and Free Comic Book Day.

I like to go there the day before and take a serious look at what's available and then hit him up the first thing when he opens the following day.

Of course I'm not the only one who does this. Ha ha.

I'm very selfish with my wallet too and feel kinda bad but my LCS is more of a novelty specialist shop I think. I've ordered a few things through them (in person, really nice and friendly place btw) but they never messaged me back and when I went in to ask about my stuff, which didn't arrive or went on backorder, I've left empty handed, apologising for not buying anything and feeling like a jerk. But I won't just pick up a random trade just to support them.
Might buy a deluxe or epic or something when I get some extra money in November because I still want to support them but I think it's more for the people who want some Deadpool and Harley Quinn stuff and don't know where to go online.

I feel extremely guilty if I go to a shop without buying anything. I don't know why.

Yeah, that makes sense. I should note, however, I do still buy some floppies and I get them from my LCS.

Ha ha, yeah I do, too. I've done it plenty of times - usually when I'm out of town - but I do try to sneak out. LOL

Same here. I'll go on my lunch breaks quite often just to browse (/ plan future IST orders)... and I always find myself feeling bad that I'm sneaking out without buying anything... but hey its a free country :P

At least you gave them the curtsey walk around. You didn't just go in for the hell of it or kill time.

My problem with that is, I want to support my LCS as well. So maybe 15% of my major purchases will be through my LCS, rather than online. But half the time I go, they didn't order it, so I walk out empty handed. That is the most frustrating thing for me. When I went to get the Gotham.Central Omni they didn't have it. I would've paid full price for it if they had it. They have to know the internet is offering me much better deals, at least order the new books out that week.

I would hardly consider that rude, let alone extremely. I get what everyone is saying, but if you think about it we walk into shops all the time without making purchases, especially at the mall or something. Shoe stores, music stores, etc just to see what's new or on sale. There should never be expectations to buy from the retailer or the consumer.
