I think it would be fun to think of new mutants and/or future children of current mutants.
Name:
Bio:
Powers:
Name : Tempest (Caleb Russell)
Bio : Caleb Russell was an average high school student, did well in his classes, had a small but close group of friends, and was a star on the swim team. And it was during one of his swim championships where his mutant powers emerged at the age of 15. Caleb discovered he had the ability to control water and other forms of moisture that was in the air, which also allowed him to create powerful storms. After the incident in which he damaged the school he was outed as mutant and fled from home. He eventually found himself with the x-men becoming a student, and one day perhaps joining the team.
Powers : Ability to control all forms of water and moisture. He can shape the water, allowing him to perform feats such as part oceans, seas and rivers, and create hard water weapons. The total amount of water he can control has not been established. Also has the ability to manipulate storms, although he does not have fine control over them.
Name: Shadow (Pavel Kovalev)
Bio: A child born days after the Chernobyl Disaster. His mother and father died shortly after the disaster. At the age of 3 he was adopted by an American couple. He lived with them comfortably until the day his powers first manifested and he leveled their house a long with most of the neighborhood. Ever since that day Pavel has been on the run, from city to city and from human and mutants a like. He has an admiration for the mutant Magneto.
Powers: Pavel has the ability to create small pockets of anti-matter which he has not been able to master fully. The pockets tend to react with matter upon creation causing massive explosions and or implosions. Pavel fears the creation of his anti-matter pockets. Pavel can also encase his body in a field of darkness that can absorb the ground he stands or anything he may touch. The field also absorbs any projectile or energy source aimed at Pavel. The use of the darkness field leaves Pavel exhausted for several hours, and prolonged use has often left him with nosebleeds and unbearable headaches.

may as well put my two cents in
Name: Lucia Suarez
Codename: Mandate
Nickname: Jeopardy
Bio: A naive lower-class girl from a small town who ran away from home at 15 to leave the dullness of her town and "find herself" in the big city. She quickly learned how naive she was and was homeless until her power kicked in so she forced her way into working at a small family-owned store. In turn, she tried using her power to subtly bring in more customers and keep their business afloat. She flew under the radar for a year until SHIELD came calling. She's currently in a secure SHIELD facility learning to use language to the fullest as one of SHIELD's interrogators as well as not to abuse her power. She's not a fan of the nickname her colleagues have given her.
Powers: An as of now uncontrollable form of telepathy where anything she says forces complete obedience unto the listeners. Due to this, she has a habit of only speaking in questions (hence the nickname) as to not cause any accidental harm to people she speaks to because questions leave some agency to the one being asked.
Fun fact: she's been developing a kink for the control over people her power gives her.
I have a spreadsheet spanning 4 generations of characters like this O.o (I needs a life XD)
The Guthrie Clan!
Sam, Josh and Paige were just the first three to bust out with mutant powers! (Thanks to the genetic tinkering of a certain sinister individual.)
One example, modifying a previously introduced Guthrie;
Name: Melody Guthrie
Bio / Powers: Mel briefly attended the Xavier school as 'Aero,' and was (mis) identified as having some sort of 'flight aura' (man, rigor in identifying and classifying and testing the mutations of new students just went to hell after Moira's death, didn't they?). Later experimentation under the tutelage of her mother, who was, if untrained, far more motivated to get it right, and didn't see Melody as 'the third student on the fifth squad,' determined that her true ability was to infuse her surrounding environment with psionic energy, energy that responded to her mental commands, and allowed her to 'charge' a mass of air so that it buoyed her up and allowed her to fly, even retaining air pressure and temperature as she travelled higher into the sky, so that she did not suffer the effects of low oxygen or extreme cold at higher altitudes. The psionically-charged air carried her aloft like a gale-force wind, and she can bowl people over by performing a 'flyby,' trusting in the shield of air between her and others to provide her a small measure of protection against slow-moving projectiles (such as arrows or thrown items) or hand to hand attack. More unusually, by making contact with another person for a length of time, she could impart in them control of a mass of psionically-charged air around themselves, giving another person the same sort of 'flight' power, for a length of time along a 1:60 ratio. (So that if she touched them for 1 second, they could fly for 60 seconds, up to a maximum of 1 hour, after touching them for 1 minute, which seemed to be the longest anyone other than herself retained this ability.) Belying the initial assumption that her power involved the manipulation of air, she learned that she could also psionically charge a volume of water, and allow herself to walk across it (by strengthening it's surface tension) or it to propel her along in the same way she could cause air to lift her up and carry her through the air. The affected water became bubbly, and retained a comfortable pressure and temperature, even if she moved into colder (or deeper) waters, and, most usefully, became so highly oxygenated as to allow her to breathe the affected water! As with her ability to charge air with psionic energy in this fashion, she learned that she could also impart this ability in another person (tested on her willing siblings), allowing them to operate underwater alongside her. Her latest development is coming more slowly, and she cannot yet 'share' it, but she is practicing infusing psionic energy into loose sand or soil, allowing her to 'surf' on an animated wave of earth. Obviously, in light of these new discoveries, her old 'code name' of Aero is no longer accurate, but she hasn't yet found another name, although, with her mother describing her power as 'imprinting' her will upon the air, water or earth, she has considered 'Imprint.'
My mutant can whip all your mutants. Just sayin.
Interesting Fact: Cyclops runs the X-Office.
Dream Catcher
From the last X-men Jam
Bio: Oneira had always been a creative child. Her Imagination was much stronger than those of her siblings. Playing pretend was always her favorite activity. When it came to imaginary friends, she had loads of them, because she actually created them. As she grew older, she began to realize that her mutant abilities began early for her. Much earlier than many other mutants. She never had problems distinguishing between the real world and the real world. But she much preferred sleeping to being awake. The world was hers to manipulate. When she graduated from High School, to attend University. She chose to study at the British Psychological Society, she wanted to learn more about Dreams, and their place in the world. She also wanted to help those in need mentally. To help pay for expenses, the curvy woman worked part time as a Racing Promo girl. There she learned to use her powers to enhance the skills of her teams drivers. Once her study was completed she moved to Australia to practice her trade. She became quite accomplished in the use of her powers to help others. Since being a mutant held no stigma in Australia, her powers and skill were well known. She even created a Costumed identity to make it easier to help her patients, she found it made it easier to do her job.
It was during a relatively peaceful trip into the Dream Time, where she had met an aboriginal mutant much like her. Although he didn't talk much, she enjoyed his company, he had offered to help train her further in the use of her abilities. For months she and the man known as Gateway had spent much time together growing her power. He had taught her much. One day he stopped meeting with her, for unknown reasons he no longer responded to her dream sendings. Although she was a pacifist, in her mind she knew something must be wrong, and had to do something. Within the week, she had located her mentor, atop his hill and bound, near helpless. Gateway shared with her the secret of the X-men, and the danger they faced if they were to return home to the Outback.
He even told her of the hidden child named Jubilee who may be able to offer assistance. They formulated a plan of action. To save her friend and his comrades, the pacifist would have to act in the real world. She hoped her training would be enough.
As Gateway summoned home the X-men, he made sure to place them at the top of a hill. As Psylocke pondered a course of action, her team were on the verge of giving up. A thin wispy mist formed all around the hill, The Reavers enroute to capture or kill the X-men. Dream Catcher contacted Psylocke quietly and informed her of the plan. Psylocke had known of Jubilee, and the three women set their plan in motion. With Jubilee and Dream Catchers help the X-men proved to be a formidable match for the Reavers, who were not expecting the reinforcements to the X-men ranks. Even so the X-men were nearly overwhelmed by the arrival of Pierce and Lady Deathstrike. But the end never came. With the arrival of Wolverine, Dream Catcher weakened her foes, and enhanced her allies, and routed the Reavers, with only Deathstrike escaping. With a combination of her Dream Powers, and Psylockes telepathy, they stripped the Reavers of their tech and forced them through the Siege Perilous. She and Psylocke would go on to make a formidable team, and help reunite the X-men over the coming months. When Psylocke left the team to return to England, Dream Catcher went with her, and helped her form the Foundation of Psiology, where they help others with mental disorders, but remain Reserve members.
Powers: Dream Catcher has the mutant ability to enter the Dream world, and manipulate dreams to various degrees. She can place weaker willed beings to into a deep sleep. She can enter the Dream Time at will. She can affect the minds of organic beings, or the "minds" of technological creations with processing capabilities. She can generate a wide area multicolor hazy mist, that she can thicken to obscure herself and others from detection. She can create a thin mist that allows her to manipulate the minds of those within them. She can boost her allies abilities, and weaken the abilities of her foes, by inspiring them or giving them waking nightmares. She can confuse the minds of others, slow them, Induce great fear, Generate Illusions, and block viewing attempts to those outside the mist. She can fill an area the equivalent of quarter mile radius, up to 30 feet in height. She is immune to sleep effects, and highly resistant to Illusionary effects. She may also go on a Dream Walk, where she can Astrally Project herself out into the real world.
Dream Catcher through the era's.
Name: Surprise (Tuti Tal)
Bio: As a child she was raised below deck of a boat by Indonesian pirates. Cooking and cleaning was all she was good for and was never able to enjoy things like the sun, fresh air or life. Until one day the pirates ransacked a boat full of ancient artifacts. There were so many old obscure looking items that they had to start piling them in with her where she slept. Not knowingly, as she laid down to sleep she grabbed what she thought was a blanket. The blanket transported her to the unknown. In this realm she hears a child's voice and it says "Good evening, traveler. I am The Light in the Night. I am The Great Snake who fertilized the Cosmic Egg. I am Khonshu the Child.". She looked around and all she saw was stars and the beautiful big blue Earth staring back at her. The child spoke again "You have found my cloak. It will shield you from the eyes of your world and will bring you great powers. Only when I rise will this cloak be accessible to you." She was back on the boat. The cloak was around her shoulders and she started to float uncontrollably up the stairs onto the deck and into the night sky.
Appearance: She is not sure if her grayish purple snake scales are a byproduct from the magic she now wields or because she is also a mutant.
Power: Psychometry. Is able to see the history of items by touching them.
Magic User: Is able to draw powers from various magical entities.

Dream Control is a very cool power, and one we don't see very often! My own take on that, for a Legion of Super-Heroes reject, was an alien named 'Miss Morpheus.' (Yes, silly names are required for the Legion!)
.
Name: Richard Marlowe, aka 'Magni-Dude.'
Bio/Powers: Rick (his sister calls him 'Dick,' which he hates, and she knows it...) was born to a Puerto-Rican born servicewoman, who moved to America after serving her tours and married a fellow soldier. He grew up bouncing between bases, but had his (annoying smartass...) sister to keep him from suffering the sort of disconnect that 'Army brats' often do. He's not sure what his parents were exposed to, during their time of service, but he's developed a sort of 'mutant power.' (He has no idea if he is actually a mutant, and would prefer to think of himself as 'just super, like Spider-Man!' and avoid the whole 'mutant' thing. He's already half-black / half Puerto-Rican, and doesn't feel like adding another minority to his list and complicate his life even further.) He initially discovered that he could amplify the force he generates when he strikes something, and using the impact measuring gauges at a dojo, clocked it as exactly ten times his normal force, or exactly an order of magnitude. (Hence his name, 'Magni-Dude.') He can only amplify force in short bursts, such as slapping or pushing or striking at something, and can't maintain the effect to lift ten times his normal carrying capacity, for instance, or run at ten times his usual speed (although he can leap forward with incredible force, only to seriously hurt himself upon 'landing'...). He has learned also to amplify not just the kinetic force of his muscular exertions, but other forces coming from his person, such as his voice, allowing him to shout with ten times his normal volume, or his body heat, allowing him to set wood aflame with a touch. (For reasons he's not terribly clear on, he only generates about 300 to 400 extra degrees of heat, and doesn't leap up to 10x his normal 98.6 degree body temperature.) Any force he amplifies in this manner never rebounds upon him, so that he can generate great force, or sound, or heat, without suffering ill effects from the primary effect. (If he sets something on fire, he will feel the heat it radiates, however!) His latest stunt, which throws into question how his powers work at all, is that he can magnify the intensity of light striking his body and reflecting off, so that, in brightly lit conditions, he becomes too blindingly bright to look at, and even at night, under faint starlight and a new moon, he can intensify the light bouncing off of him by a factor of ten and generate enough light to see by (and make himself an excellent target...).
Wraith
Basically he's a ghost and his power is to temporarily take over someone's soul and control them.
