My most recent idea was a Clan Akkaba member. Elizabeth Stillwell was one of the members of the clan house attacked by Dracula in 1897. Instead of getting turned, she was knocked unconscious and buried under rubble.... where she somehow remained unconscious for over 100 years. Then in modern times she gets awakened by one of the super-powered fights in the modern era... which has the usual culture shock, but also the realization that Mutants are... semi-normal now. People may not like you... but they at least know what you are. Then when she meets Apoccy he's like "You're not dead yet? Hmm I guess you're worth keeping around."

Appearance: Elizabeth is what Oxymandias called a "grey face". IE she's a nearly normal looking woman... except she has grey skin and the distinctive lines. Despite her age she looks to be in her 20s. She was in her late 30s when she got buried.
Powers: like most grey faces Elizabeth has impressive physical strength. But while many grey faces can alter the size and shape of their limbs and body, all Elizabeth can do is sprout blades from her forearms. Which is more like Baraka than Wolverine TBH. It's one blade per arm, and the blades are quite long/thick. But, unlike Baraka, Elizabeth can fire energy discharges from her blades, either as beams or as thrown energy blades. (she can still cut through things like stone with them) Also, there's the whole "why isn't she dead?" thing. A normal person would have died of old age by now. She was buried in rubble... with no food or water for longer than most people will live. Yeah... that's some sort of Mutant enhanced longevity power all right.

If memory serves, John Byrne suggested that TK was in part to credit for Gladiator's "strength." Yes, he is superhumanly strong anyway, but lifting a massively heavy object like the Baxter Building without it collapsing under its own weight required telekinetic powers, or some other force working in concert with Gladiator's strength.

I imagine that also applies to guys like Blue Marvel, who may not necessarily have TK powers, but who does have the ability to manipulate gravitons (which are their own antiparticles) whenever he's "lifting" planet-sized objects. Yes, he's Hulk level strong, but being able to apply gravity fields synergistically with his strength would explain how he can fly an aircraft carrier that weighs 100,000 tons thousands of miles without the ship becoming structurally compromised and dis-integrating in midflight.

Yeah, on occasion Gladiator's power is said to vary based on his "confidence"... which yeah... sounds like a mental power.

Yeah Gladiator was meant as Marvel's Superman, but created at a very specific time when a popular take on Superman was all his powers stemmed from highly specialized TK and TP....the idea that his super-vision and X-Ray vision were just different forms of clairvoyance, his heat vision and cold breath were actually just telekinetic manipulations of molecules, his invulnerability was a TK shield, his strength was really just telekinesis in action....its why when Superboy was created, he had 'tactile telekinesis' instead of being a direct Superman analogue.....they'd ultimately decided not to redefine Superman as being psychically powered, but still liked the idea enough to explore it with Superboy. Byrne was one of the creators most pushing for the psychic Superman take, so even though Marvel didn't really want to go that route either with Gladiator, the confidence thing was still built into Gladiator's character as a subtle nod to the fact that presumably Gladiator is wholly powered by psionic ability just like Superman was going to be via that take....its just something that goes largely unacknowledged.

Anyway, in other thread related things......I think it could be cool to have a background Krakoan character named something like Chorus.....a mutant with self-replicating powers kinda like Madrox, but each of her other selves has a different vocal range and/or expertise with a different musical ability, so she's effectively a one woman band or choir.

I know that there are approximately eighty billion existing wallpaper mutants desperately in need of use already, but with the whole 'Cerebro backed up every mutant in history' thanks to Wanda's spell thing, I kinda would love to see a book that's just a team lineup of all brand new characters resurrected from all different points in time and from different civilizations, who after acclimating to the present day saw the X-Men and other superheroes and were like 'that seems neat, I wanna do that.' Like a squad of characters who hail from different periods in the Marvel Universe where there were no superheroes and now they live in an age of them and they're all adjusting to that paradigm and figuring out ways to make it work for them.....but juxtaposed against the rest of their own lineup, as each of them adjust to entirely different expectations or preconceptions, in entirely unique ways.

    Hedone.
Powers: mentally inflicts immense pleasure on people, numbing them just like a drug. She is initially a sweet, docile girl, but after she joins the academy x as a new student and field member, she starts to develop a intense elation on using her powers on others and defeating enemies. Her behavior shifts to a more dark, emotional unattached persona and she changes her name to Ketamine

    Challenge accepted.

    Sharon MacKay, aka Quantum
Able to absorb and manipulate all forms of energy and matter.
    Immune to changes in reality.

Initially too powerful to ever operate on Earth, until she sent something back in time to teach her to use her powers and stop the Great Sentinel War.

I even wrote an origin story: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14034340/1/Quantum

This would work as a character who basically starts out not realizing they even have powers because of having a quirk that causes their powers to discharge(like draining a battery) if not used right.

Well yeah, showing the characters that got massacred off-panel could be neat.

Especially since there are times when really weird ---- has happened like the Hellfire club acquiring slave labor, then advertising the new slave as "Alpha rank" before selling the person to the highest bidder. Um... so what powers did that person have?

    Random Arakki mutants;

    Atu-Aton the Hollower Out
Sixty seconds of eye contact from the white (but not sightless) eyes of this lean, older man allows him to scour away all of one’s memories, personality and will and replace it with his own, a perfect copy of his own psyche, telepathically linked to his own and utterly loyal. He has four or five Arakki ‘hollow soldiers’ and many dozens of Amenthi demons that he uses as expendable flunkies, being himself, an indifferent fighter at best, even in his youth, despite his tall, rangy frame. He prefers robes that conceal his frame, so that only his long arms extend to direct his 'minions' and only his white eyes peer from the shadows of his hood, a startling contrast to his dark skin.

His most visible Arakki 'hollow one' is a giant crab/spider mutant who suffered brain damage after an arrow from Pestilence to the one of his four giant eyes, and had his crippled brain-dead personality replaced by Atu-Aton to make his giant body useful again (Atu-Aton tends to ride him like a mount), while another was an Arraki sentenced to this ‘death of personality’ because she was addicted to using her life-draining black lightning whips to murder others, leaving them cold and dead or even disintegrated, and absorbing their energies for a rush. The original names of these and other hollow soldiers are as dust now, both only respond to Atu-Aton's name, as they are now merely empty vessels containing his will. A side-effect of hollowing out others in this way has left his mind cluttered with memory fragments and moods not his own, giving him an erratic and distant affect, and the unusual trait of speaking in a mélange of voices, blended from all those he has drained over the years. For their part, the Amenthi demons seem to have no overriding personality, which is something of a blessing, for the Great Ring does not relish the thought of him and his many agents turning to the side of the demons, overwhelmed by hundreds of demon voices clamoring behind his gleaming eyes.

    Si Kau, the False Fire
A young man with no visible signs of mutation, Si Kau keeps his head and body shaved clean, and has a fastidious appearance, preferring colorful draped cloth kilt and shawl that are cut to show his toned arms and legs, and the assorted golden bracelets and bangles he enjoys. He usually wears several belts, pulled tight to contain his belly, which is inevitably not as slim as he would prefer, and betrays his obsessive love of food, both preparing it and eating it. His mutation allows him to conjure colored fire, which generates light and even warmth like a fire, but does not burn hot until he snaps his fingers to ignite it from ‘false fire’ to actual flame (at which point, if it was some unusual color like blue, green or violet, it turns to more typical red/orange/yellow/white). He can manifest this fire and move it around across the ground like a serpent, and selectively ignite some of it, so that he can light himself with intricate patterns of colored fire, or spell out messages in giant fiery letters, while igniting other areas to immolate approaching foes. He prefers to create walls of colorful fire around himself, and selectively ignite them at the first sign of enemies approaching as he is not at all fond of close combat situations. Fortunately, he is usually accompanied on the battlefield by his sister, who is far more enthusiastic about melee.

    Tem Kau, a Million Knives
Si Kau’s sister, Tem Kau is a telekinetic capable of lifting only items weighing an ounce or less, and only after spending some time attuning herself to the item in question, imbuing it with a psionic field that responds to her silent will. She can however attune herself in this manner to many thousands of such tiny objects, and prefers tiny shards of obsidian and grains of sand. The sand she wears like armor, and blows against her are deflected by her telekinetic strength holding the armor in place, while the tiny obsidian scalpels orbit her like a black cloud of buzzing gnats, flaying any who enter her immediate area, as her range is only three yards or so. Within that limited range, she can manipulate hundreds of pounds of these tiny particles and blades, and exert almost a ton of force, enduring powerful blows against her sand armor, and slicing through even the thick hide of Amenthi demons with her tiny obsidian blades.

Unlike her flamboyant brother, she has little interest in colorful clothing or jewelry, and prefers utilitarian demon-leather armor, over which her sand deposits glitter like a mica coating. Her hair is bound up in a single loc, also stiffened with sand, and hanging like a club between her shoulder blades. Like her brother, she is tall, but even leaner, with good muscle definition, more from an active lifestyle of fighting, exploring, running, dancing and athleticism than her brothers’ regimen of exercise (which benefits his shoulders, arms and legs, but never seems to conquer his belly). Some of their fellow Arakki compare the two mockingly to a pair of fowl, the male clad in bright plumage, and the hen drab in her grays and browns. Her brother despairs that her taste in food is much like her taste in clothing, and she just mechanically eats whatever he gives her with no stated preference, apparently never gaining weight, to his annoyance.

Cheating a bit, but I was bored, so here goes...

    Macabre

    Real Name: Monet St. Croix-Thomas

Background: Macabre is the alternate Earth counterpart of Monet St. Croix. When the 7th Celestial host deemed the mutants of her Earth unfit and initiated comprehensive purification protocols, Macabre's husband, Everett, used his vast abilities to sync up with his nearest counterpart in hopes of creating a cosmic "loophole" that would allow them to escape certain death. Unfortunately, bridging the space/time continuum taxed Everett more than he had anticipated. He had barely enough energy left to force Macabre through the portal when the Celestial eradication wave struck. Every mutant that Macabre knew was killed. She was the only survivor.

Macabre would arrive in South America on Earth 616 in 1806; thousands of miles and hundreds of years from her husband's intended target. And while she was alive, she was unable to access all of her powers. Perhaps the Celestial wave had affected her mutant physiology after all? Not wishing to relive what she felt was one of the more unpleasant epochs of human history, Macabre trekked through the rain forest in search of an Apocalypse chamber, reasoning that the Apocalypse of this Earth would have an Iguazu Falls lair just like the Apocalypse of her Earth.

A harrowing journey, Macabre would eventually locate Apocalypse's lair weeks later. Settling into one of his eugenic suspension chambers, she slept for the next 200 years. What she would awaken to was nothing short of abject horror.

    Height: 6'3" Weight: 300 lbs
    Eyes: Turquoise Hair: Black
    Skin: red

Strength: Macabre can lift 20 tons. She can further enhance her strength with the aid of her tentacles.

Powers: Macabre originally had the same mutant abilities as her Earth 616 counterpart. However, Apocalypse's eugenic chamber would introduce genetic changes to Macabre that appear to be irreversible. Her right arm was replaced by 8 tentacles, each with its own powers and properties. Each tentacle is sentient and capable of operating independent of Macabre. While the tentacles are indistinct to onlookers, Macabre can distinguish them and has given each a name:

Tentacle #1 (Jangseung aka the guardian that never sleeps) - Erects impermeable force fields that are proof against all manner of attacks, including psionic and mystical attacks.

Tentacle #2 (La Llorona aka Death Eater) - Life force/Astral/Spiritual energy absorption; energies obtained can be used to bolster Macabre's own life force, making her effectively immortal

Tentacle #3 (Sia) - Bestows limited psychokinetic powers, including telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, cryokinesis, illusion casting, empathy and mind control

Tentacle #4 (Kratos) - The strongest and most indestructible tentacle. Kratos can punch a hole through six inches of adamantium with little effort.

Tentacle #5 (Azaka) - Generates Dark Force energy for a variety of effects; Macabre's primary offensive weapon as it has the greatest range and damage output

Tentacle #6 (Bloody Mary) - Has microscopic barbs that delivers a variety of fast acting toxins with effects ranging from mild nausea to amnesia to paralysis to bodily liquification and death. There is no cure for her toxins.

Tentacle #7 (Janus Kāla) - Limited control of time and space; used primarily for teleportation, but Macabre has used Janus to stop a hummingbird in midflight

Tentacle #8 (Yōkai aka the Ghost Tentacle) - Endows Macabre and potentially others with density variable attributes similar to the Vision.

Note: Macabre is deeply obsessed with regaining the life and the happiness that she once had. She has been discreetly stalking the Synch of this world. Her most fervent hope is that they will somehow meet and it will be love at first sight like it was with her Everett. But greater still is her fear that he will see her and be forever repulsed by her appearance. Will she ever find the courage to take the risk?
