Heather MacDonald, author of 'The War on Cops,' notes some statistics that get overlooked in the Black Lives Matter discussion.

The thing is, if BLM manages to peacefully obtain Police reforms that not only eliminate racial profiling but also Hair-Trigger reactions and abuse/overuse of weapons on civilians, that might very well benefit Everyone. Poorly trained Police Officers who are too quick on the draw could be/might be responsible for at least some/possibly many of those deaths, regardless if the target is Black, White, Hispanic or Asian.

If BLM can fix that, then it should be welcome by all.

The fear is that some may twist BLM into a War against Cops, something neither side wants. That is the danger, the risk.

edit: I have to add, in all honesty, even if the statistics show that more White People are killed by Police Officers than Blacks, how do you think the Country could react to a movement called "White Lives Matter"? You know that would bring out the KKK and the White Supremacists and other Kooky Birds and Crazies much more than anything going on now.

I think this country needs the BLM, as long as it doesn't devolve into more events like in Dallas.

You have to be willing to say that. It's the point I was trying to make earlier show everybody how stuff that happens to Freddie Grey and others can happen to anybody.

For many folks it's about WHO is on the package versus what is in it.

Just like gun control-let more legal black gun owners kill some more cops and see how fast we get new gun laws that even the NRA can't stop.

See everybody can look the other way when white kids are murder in Sandy Hook or Columbine or comic nerds at Batman movies or 12 years executed by cops in less than 2 seconds. Because of the skin color of the shooters happen to be white. Different story when it's a noncop who is black.

We had this happen in Dallas-white guy pulled over by cop REFUSED to follow the cops directions and even filmed himself making fun of the cop and calling him names.

Cop pulls out nightstick and breaks car window and DRAGS the guy out of the car and arrests him. EVERYBODY sided with the cop. Now image if that was a black man.

Ideally this shouldn't be about race, unfortunately it is. We need to fix things, one problem at a time, instead of yelling out my problem is more important than your problem.

Root out Racial Bias, improve Police Training so that they aren't so quick to use their weapons, and whatever is left over after that we can deal with, including violence against Police.

Well, the circus most people expected with Trump as its ringleader is officially underway.

Former US Senator Gordon Humphries (New Hampshire) called the convention a 'meeting of brownshirts.' Ouch. Every sitting Republican who admits to climate change except for one is skipping the convention.

Trump's campaign manager trashed Kasich on Morning Joe earlier today. Despite what anyone might think about Kasich, he IS a reasonably popular governor of a swing state - trashing him might not be the smartest move.

The head of the 'Young Republicans' is 38, and a father of 3. He has a little over 2 years of membership left.

And in other news it looks like Ailes is out as head of Fox News.

The majority of the party doesn't want Trump. The party leaders don't care and are forcing him in despite attempts to block him.....so much for him being the "anti establishment candidate"

That makes no sense, considering Kasich is catching spears for telling Cleveland law enforcement officials that he can't honor their plea to suspend open carry in the city, especially near the convention for fear of gun violence breaking out.
