Canada, U.S. to Tackle Border Crossing Asylum-Seekers

Canadian and U.S. officials are working on a plan to tackle asylum seekers crossing into Canada illegally, with American officials keen to discover how they entered the United States in the first place, said a source familiar with the matter.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly is set to visit the Canadian capital Ottawa early this month for talks on the border and the influx of people, said the source, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Hundreds of people, mainly from Africa but also the Middle East, have walked across the Canadian border, seeking asylum. They are fleeing President Donald Trump's crackdown on illegal immigrants, migrants and refugees agencies say.
Canadian and U.S. officials speak daily about the border crossers and law enforcement agencies from both nations met in Montreal last month to plot strategies, the source said.

The U.S. side asked Canada to provide details of the asylum seekers, in particular, how they had entered the United States and what their status was there.

The summit grouped representatives from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Canada Border Services Agency, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.

RCMP spokeswoman Annie Delisle confirmed the meeting took place, saying the two sides agreed on an "action plan which outlines a collaborative approach to dealing with the influx of asylum seekers."
I think the last time large groups of people sought asylum in Canada from the U.S. was during the Vietnam war. This is libel to be larger than that.

    Oi, WBE.

That’s Iowa State Sen. Mark Chelgren.*He fancies himself a “straight shooter,”*even delivering a newsletter to constituents with the same name. Roughly two weeks ago he embarrassed his fellow Iowans by*introducing a bill designed to purge Democrats from teaching at Iowa universities:
The legislation proposes that a “person shall not be hired as a professor or instructor member of the faculty at such an institution if the person’s political party affiliation on the date of hire would cause the percentage of faculty belonging to one political party to exceed by ten percent the percentage of faculty belonging to the other political party.”
So, where did state Sen.*Chelgren attend college? Because surely he would’ve learned this is both un-American AND unconstitutional, right? He claimed he had a degree from Forbco Management School, but that turned out to be false and perhaps the most*flaming hot, embarrassing resume pad*of all time:
But State Sen. Mark Chelgren's alleged alma mater is actually a company that operated a Sizzler steak house franchise in southern California and he doesn't have a "degree," Ed Failor, a spokesman for the Iowa State Republicans, told NBC News.
"This was a management course he took when he worked for Sizzler, kind of like Hamburger University at McDonald's," Failor said. "He got a certificate."
Even though*he deleted mention the degree off his*website, a Google search still prominently shows the old info (see below). And state Sen. Chelgren told a reporter just last week that it was so long ago, who can remember?

And do remember that Sessions voted to remove Bill Clinton from office for perjury.
And Sessions did perjure himself during his confirmation hearing. Sen. Al Franken asked him if he'd contacted Russia, and Sessions lied and said he hadn't.

It's no longer a matter of him recusing himself during the FBI's investigation into Russia. Sessions is trying to protect himself. Or would be, if he didn't have a potential perjury charge that could cost him the AG gig.

Six weeks into the Trump presidency, and he could be about to lose a second cabinet member to Russiagate.

On this date in both 2015, as well as 2016, “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day” profiled Washington State Senator Michael Baumgartner, who has policy stances like putting an end to no-fault divorce, a return to the gold standard (which economists say would tank not just the American economy, but the global economy), U.S. withdrawal from the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (based off of Agenda 21 conspiracy theory fervor), and privatizing Social Security. He has not only voted against the legalization of gay marriage, but also would like gay couples to be prevented from adopting children. He also showed himself to be bizarre on the campaign trail in 2012, running attack ads against Maria Cantwell for being “unmarried” and undermining the role of the mother in child rearing, as well as responding to a reporter’s question about his thoughts on Todd Akin’s “legitimate rape” comments by later e-mailing that reporter a picture of a Navy SEAL who died in Afghanistan and a note telling him to “go f*** himself”. He apologized for the latter unprofessional reaction, only to later say his apology was only sent on behalf of his staff, and retract even that apology.

Baumgartner’s seat is up in 2018, and we’ll have to see if he calls any more negative attention to himself prior to those elections. His love of conspiracy theories and work for socially conservative forces will hopefully get him a bus ride out of town from voters in his district.

It's getting to the point where you have to wonder who in Trump's campaign didn't talk to the Russians. Curious to see how Fox News spins this one.

The press needs to cling to this story like stink on ****. Having the Attorney General mixed up in this mess is nothing that Trump and the GOP can idly dismiss. This is YUGE, boys and girls! Meanwhile....

Hey, remember how someone was complaining about how 'some democrats' didn't applaud Trump's rank (and much fawned over by the press) politicization of a dead service member?

The folks on the left are the press.

The folks on the right are veterans.
