Just when there were some faint signs of diplomacy getting back on track in Ukraine, things get much worse:

Pro-Russian rebels have shot down a military transport plane in eastern Ukraine, reportedly killing 49 Ukrainian service personnel.

Ukraine's defence ministry said the Il-76 transport plane crashed after coming under anti-aircraft fire over Luhansk.

In a statement it said "terrorists" had "cynically and treacherously" fired on the aircraft.

The plane was carrying troops and military equipment and was about to land at the city's airport.

It is thought to be the biggest loss of life suffered by government forces in a single incident since Kiev began an operation to try to defeat the insurgency in east Ukraine.

In the United States, the person who sees themselves as loyal and patriotic and who find someone else whose opinions they disagree with.

In Canada, those who knew that Brett Hull was born to a Canadian father and that he grew up in Winnipeg have the right to call him a traitor for playing with team USA.

I thought you said it was referencing real life events, not bizarre conspiracy theories.

And the reference is probably more about the original Ultra from the pre-Crisis days.

I doubt that Ben Raab or Lobdell or Kavanagh or whoever is still working for DC even knows that story. I know I'd never heard of it. "Ultra" is an ultra common word.

The US has been an empire since the 1900's when we got Phillipines, Guam and Peuto Rico from Spain. We grew to be a large empire in the last century, had our zenith in the 1940's though the 1960's and then began a slow decline.

the PI were scheduled to be turned back to the people there in the 40s anyway, Guam and Puerto Rico can leave at a will, That doesn't make an empire.

hegemony and empire are too diffent things, and the most powerful economy, culture and military power will always influence others even if it tried not to do so.

first of all, the money on the steakhouses is a drop in the pan for election expenditures. he got 5 mil from blackstone and goldman sachs. they don't need to trust him or like him, all they need is to fear the other candidate. plus, they needed him to do what he's been doing, which is nothing. except obstructing in the name of his donors. less than 13% of registered repubs voted. if you paid attention to any right wing news, blogs, radio, or pundits, you would know, he is not liked and not trusted.

It might be a drop in the pan, but it is still way too damn much to spend on steakhouses.
